Aww ffs. Another season down the drain before kickoff.
Not sure exactly how the news went round as he was on the sideline but I guess those fans booing had the similar initial reaction of "fuck sake" but they must be regretting that now.

It seems so cruel given theyāve finally built an O line that can give him a bit of protection.
Sounds like his calf was buggered and thatās just an achilles tear waiting to happen.
They could still make the playoffs with Brissett imo. So much talent in that team and heās probably at the upper end of backup QBs.

Nah no way, Brissett will go 0-6 or 1-5 against those defences in the division and they'll draft someone, maybe Herbert, in the first or second next year nypost.com/2019/08/02/andrew-lucks-shoulder-injury-saved-his-marriage/Good for him tbh. Indy have never protected him anyway. Wonder what he does now, whether he sticks around the college football scene or not.

Fair play to him for putting his future in his own hands. His body has taken an ungodly amount of punishment in 7 years.
There has been persistent talk over the last couple of years around Luke doing the same considering the amount of head injuries heās had and you canāt blame them for looking after themselves. Just sucks to lose a big talent from the game.

All the lukewarm takes about āI wish I could retire at 29 LOLā seem to be coming from the IBM middle management types who somehow seem to have no understanding of the concept of what the NFL does to your body, and specifically someone with his injury history. I remember when he was deactivated under Pagano a quote from the team doctor or someone that said heād expect to see similar injuries in car crash victims. And yet people who sit behind a desk for a living think itās inherently unfair he can step away at 29 with probably more physical strain than youāll get working till 65 normally.

Arsenal have done a couple of rehab videos covering Nobbs, Holding, Bellerin and Koscielny returning from serious injuries and it gives a ridiculous insight into what athletes have to go through, mentally as well as physically. Particularly given it's such a short season in terms of time period, to then miss so many games and have to spend time on your own rehabbing or living your daily life in pain can just wear you down.
To be in a position where he doesn't have to keep putting his body through it because he can afford to retire should be applauded.

I totally get it and don't blame him for choosing to do so. But the timing is really shit. Really shit. If you've got an inkling of thought it's going to happen then letting your team know before the draft seems needed.

Mad the backlash Colts fans who want a refund for their ST are getting, after it seemingly is the case that the Colts knew Luck missing the year could be a real option and yet marketed his return heavily to sell them.
If they operate on the same basis as the Raiders with the option for STs being just a small part of actually owning the lease for the seat outright then I don't see why they shouldn't be allowed to protest Irsay being a complete fucknugget of an owner by not going this year.

Being completely genuine and not just arguing for argumentās sake but what do you want them to do? If they didnāt know then no issue, if they did know, what option do they have? They didnāt know for certain as he said he only decided himself two weeks ago and if you donāt market your star franchise QB as the face of your organisation people are going to wonder why and thereād be all sorts going on?
And maybe itās just me but I canāt believe youāre a Colts fan who buys a season ticket who suddenly has no interest in going without even seeing how it goes, itās a massive overreaction and I think they deserve the stick theyāre getting.
Irsay is a fucknugget though Iām not arguing that.

Saw on nfl twitter that the fans' issue is that they didn't make public the severity of his ankle/leg injury. The medical team for e.g have been trying to diagnose it unsuccessfully since March apparently, and yet here the Colts FO are saying "no, no, he's starting week one, his lack of first team reps are just a precaution" I doubt they're disinterested but that it's a protest over the lack of transparency, going from the Manning fiasco to then barely protecting his heir apparent until he's all but died on the field, which is the same problem they had during the Manning era.

That's all fair, and get where you're coming from. Frank Reich was pretty upfront re: his injury I thought at least, and I just reckon you're always going to downplay the injury even if you know he's never playing week one anyway, if just to try and keep your opponents in the dark for as long as possible. Get the frustration that causes for a fan though.
And yeah, their lack of O-Line is ridiculous, Ryan Grigson needs some serious accountability.
