Said this before about him and Owen, I do not understand how with so much money going into research and feedback for TV companies, they're still employed. It's not even a Piers Morgan type of shite either, they're just generally not very good.

Even the likes of Shearer and Wright who used to be laughable have smartened up to not be so obviously clueless whenever they’re on screen. There’s still a few with them two included that actively make it worse watching football though. Definitely no excuse when you see what having Neville and Carragher has done for Sky’s coverage.

As a general pundit I don’t think Owen is great, but I think he’s excellent when he’s talking about strikers.

Keown has to be the worst for me. Dour, uninteresting and idiotic. There's no doubt that journalists like Jonathan Wilson know way more about football and can actually communicate what they know far better. Hell Fitbathatba who made the Shola Ameobi is very brave song works for Tifo now and is genuinely way more intelligent than like half the regular pundits.
To get back on topic it's a shame Porto only drew against Milan earlier and didn't put actual pressure on this Atletico side to qualify.

Since it's 2-0 and the game is over we don't need to bother with VAR now.
Top analysis from Macca.

People were raving about this in mid week. My initial thought was yes it is good but nothing to get too excited about. But then I realised that at 37 it is actually quite exceptional.
Terry could barely move at that age.

I’m 31 and that would put me out of action for a week

I'd have pulled a hamstring doing what Morata did tbh. I pretty much nearly did on Wednesday.

This year’s isn’t as bad but I still think it should have been him. Last year was utterly mental though.

Lewandowski robbed of two ballon d’ors. Think that's harsh - if Lukaku for example had the year Messi had people wouldn't be complaining about him winning it. Feel a large part is Messi's drop-off is from such a high level that you can sometimes underrate what he's done. Fwiw I think Lewa should have won it too - but I'm not angry about Messi winning it having looked at what he did.

I think it’s a fair point re Messi’s drop off, particularly in a struggling barca team. He had to come back down to earth at some point. I just think that in addition to Lewandowski not getting the award last year (fully deserved though out of his control I suppose) he was stellar this year as well. It will be interesting to see who will be in contention next year given both Messi/Ronaldo’s drop off.
