They have updated the list... Just no. How the actual fuck did Javi Martinez get 99?! Just how!?! That's criminal.

Axel Witsel is 50 odd on that list. How fucking clueless is this? Swear once we see the top 20 we'll realise just how much of an afterthought the other 80 were.

It's certainly starting to seem as though that the numbers were assigned at random.

This is Nesta's top 15 and he was the top judge of the list:
1. Messi 2. Ronaldo 3. Ibrahimovic 4. Xavi 5. Iniesta 6. Pirlo 7. Totti 8. Ribery 9. Thiago Silva 10. Neymar 11. Cavani 12. Ozil 13. Balotelli 14. Bale 15. Buffon
So I work it out 5 former team-mates and the majority of the list associated with Italy.
Philip Lahm, Bastian Schweinsteiger or Arjen Robben don't make his top 40, Suarez is 35th and Lampard is 28th.
Think Nesta is at the root of a lot of the problems with this list.
Also no-one else put Lampard on their list, the fact that he put Lampard so high puts him ahead of Hazard and Martinez who are on two people's lists but lowly down. Been said before but not the right way to do it at all.

I despise this logic. Because he had a successful playing career means he's a better judge of talent, especially when so many successful managers had average playing careers. Pele called El Hadji Diouf one of the 100 greatest based on a good World Cup. Most former players who go on to be pundits are fucking dreadful at it. Most coaches were decent players. He's shown on the list what a tit he is.

It really annoys me with that as well because they've had loads of digs towards MOTD punditry on their site as well, even articles based solely on that. Ridiculous hypocrisy.
Also, Xavi is rated way too highly on most of these. He was dominated by Schweinsteiger and co. not that long ago and they're all comfortably below him.

I don't think it makes Nesta a tit, it's just that he probably hasn't watched much football this year since he'd be busy with other things so he will pick the first players that come to mind. Especially compared to someone like Jonathan Wilson or Rafael Honginstein who are constantly watching football and analysing excellently.

Jonathan Wilson rated Emmanuel Mayuka in his top 30 players in the world last year. Try reading Inverting the Pyramid with the same look now.

Wow, the only logic behind it is to have a diversity of players from all around the world, I suppose if you got really into the African Cup of Nations and watched every minute of it, you would feel a certain obligation to include a player from the winning team. Same with Emenike this year. It's like people that consider Roger Milla to be one of the greatest footballers of all-time.

Eh, last year Mayuka was a beast for Zambia in the ACON, had created very well for Young Boys and had success two years running in the Europa League before moving to Southampton at the age of 22.
He wasn't a top 30 player but I can see why someone like Wilson wanted to give him a good shout in order to get him on the list somewhere. I did the same on our list with Mkhitaryan.

#FreeBTS, according to Jonathan Wilson on twitter, Mayuka wasn't on his list.
