I actually think Smalling is a decent defender but i can't think of many players who are worse then him with the ball at their feet, crazy to think he's been deployed as a right-back Yep, very true. Had a good game today at centre-back as well, the whole team suffers when he plays right-back, can't cope at all going forward.

I haven't been awake early enough to watch match of the day since I was about 7.
Fulham are so dire, can't help but think they're going down. Which is a shame as they were probably my favourite London club to play and was always a decent away day until they hiked the prices up. Them hot dogs with a decent view of the river >
Poyet is quality though so every cloud

Smalling at right back makes sense in certain games - see Arsenal at home where he was one of the best players on the pitch. He's pretty energetic and not many players beat him in a 1v1 there either. When you're playing teams where you have a lot more of the ball though they've just ended up forcing the defence to play it to Smalling which isn't good at the best of times let alone when everyone is playing with no confidence. Rafael is a huge miss when he's out.
Good to see Welbeck continuing to silence his doubters. Read some stats that he's got 8 goals from 31 shots in the league (ie: Sturridge 9 in 41, Lukaku 9 in 53). Who would've thought he can actually score goals when he's played in his position? Shame he was injured for a fair bit this season, hopefully he can continue being a bit more greedy and getting himself in goalscoring positions when he inevitably goes back wide left at some point.
edit: forgot to mention fletcher.. what a guy.

Finding a way to go from Hitzelsberger to having a pop at David Cameron is creative , I'll give him that.

Bentaleb outplayed Dembele all game. Brilliant performance from him. Otherwise, probably the worse 90 minutes of football I've seen from us in a long time. Palace should have been 3 up by half time. lol, talk about OTT. Aside from the penalty, Palace didn't have that many clear cut chances at all. First 20 minutes were abysmal, but we controlled it from there. Didn't really get out of 2nd gear all game and still came away relatively comfortable. Not good enough, we should be winning that even more comfortably, but it'll do. Second half was good, could have scored 5/6. Soldado must be frustrated, out playyed Adebayor whilst they were on, then gets subbed just as we're starting to play well. Happy for JD though, even if it's trademark hint of offside.

He clearly held circle down too long. It's like when you don't know how to do pens on a new footy game! Hahahah

We couldn't string two half decent passes together the entire first half without just pumping it back to Dawson or Chiriches. Bentaleb's shot + Ade's header were bolts from the blue. Probably Dembele's worst performance, especially given his recent run of good form. Rose didn't even turn up for the 3rd game in a row. You said it yourself about 2nd gear, I'd argue we didn't even get out of first. Winning 2-0 doesn't excuse the fact that it was a woeful performance. Had no attacking ideas, no plan B, poor defence. Not ott at all. Just luck that we were playing Palace at home.

Steven Taylor's starting his first game since he got sent off against these on the opening set of fixtures.
Hurray. At least he's up against someone of his physique unlike Aguero back in August.
