This US Open set-up is awfully surreal.
Amazon coverage is decent, just a pain to get up and running through the TV.
All of the top players have been given a suite/lounge so that when they're not playing and have to stay within the bubble, they can chill out there and watch others play. So you've literally got the likes of Murray now playing whilst being watched by Konta, Edmund, Zverev, it must be quite off-putting knowing you've got your peers as the only audience.

That is absolutely fucking ridiculous and so so funny. Not much sympathy for Novak because of other stuff but like disqualified from a tournament for that?! Absolutely shocking.

This might be a little bit of ethnic generalising but I’m not sure I’ve known anyone from Yugoslavia to be remotely sane.

Rules are rules, plenty of other players have fallen foul of the same thing.
Absolutely hilarious that it's him though, especially given he was called out on it a few years back and got the hump with the journalist who asked him about it.

Djokovic is just a knob isn't he?
Smashes his racket repeatedly on the court and then asks the umpire to get someone to clean it.

Djokovic, Nadal and Federer (who would be doing well just to face the other two tbh) all on one side of the draw at the French.
Can imagine that semi being gruelling to the point where whoever out of the Next Gen gets through on the other side may have a genuine shot this year.
Looking forward to checking back in a couple of weeks when Nadal’s won the final in straight sets again, though.

Thiem going out in round 1 has guaranteed a first time finalist in the men’s singles competition. Slightly mad, that.
Been a lot written about Osaka as well, be interesting to see how that plays out if she continues to refuse to talk to the media. I can see her point and can certainly see a need to change the expectations around media obligations but the strange bit from her side is that no one in her team communicated with Roland Garros (or the other Slams) before announcing the protest on the eve of the tournament, and still hadn’t at the point the Slams released their joint statement.
Also some of the people defending her have taken the line that they don’t get paid extra to do media, which is a fatuous argument because the reason for the high prize money is inextricably linked with the media coverage so those media obligations do drive how much they get paid. There are much better arguments for her position than that, in my opinion.

Agreed, the wellbeing argument doesn't really hold up to me either.
There should be more done to moderate some of the questioning (some of what Gauff gets is unbelievably ignorant), but having said that for all the complaints about having to appear straight after a loss, quite a lot of journalists have said players often don't appear within the half hour they're supposed to.
Think she's gone about it all wrong personally.

Feels like it’s really opened up for the Gauff hype to go nuclear hasn’t it
