Tuesday 28th January 2014 Man Utd v Cardiff 19:45 Norwich v Newcastle 19:45 Southampton v Arsenal 19:45 Swansea v Fulham 19:45 Crystal Palace v Hull 20:00 Liverpool v Everton 20:00
Wednesday 29th January 2014 Aston Villa v West Brom 19:45 Chelsea v West Ham 19:45 Sunderland v Stoke 19:45 Tottenham v Man City 19:45OGS goes back to Old Trafford, hopefully to ruin Juan Mata's debut for the club. Norwich are going to fuck Newcastle up now that Cabaye is gone. Guly to score the winner after his own goal on NYD last year cos us 3 points vs Arsenal. REDEMPTION. Swansea and Fulham are both shit, no one cares. Palace will beat Hull, Chamakh will score. Decent derby game, with both sides having shit loads of injuries. Suarez to be shocking but Sturridge goal to win it. Shit derby game, Benteke to win it. Boring derby game, Eto'o to win it. League Cup finalists vs tika-taka football. Everyone wins. Spurs look for revenge after their hammering at the Etihad, City won't care and will score 6 more. Negredo with 5. The best thing about this week so far? http://instagram.com/p/jtYZoRFaVo ENJOY

Les Ferdinand believes holding midfielders are unnecessary and Claude Makelele was the worst thing to happen to the Premier League.
This man is allowed to make footballing decisions.

My housemate's insistent that any midfielder who can't score from 40 yards is pointless.

This rap discussion in the GD has been excellent for me today, kept my mind off the derby, but the nerves are kicking in now. Can't see us conceding less than 2 goals.
I hate derbies.

Cabaye gone. Gouffran and Cisse out. We haven't won at Carrow Road in 20 years. We'll lose.

Les Ferdinand believes holding midfielders are unnecessary and Claude Makelele was the worst thing to happen to the Premier League. This man is allowed to make footballing decisions. Not many teams play holding midfielders of that type anymore though. The Sergio Busquets/Carrick types are more popular now, as in a reader of the game from deep who doesn't venture too far forward but is more technical and is involved in play more than the likes of Makelele were. But yeah you need someone to hold really.

His reasoning behind it was "look at Man City"
We aren't Man City Les, stop thinking we're Man City

Man City sometimes don't play with a holding midfielder, which is one of the reasons, as well as Demichelis being somewhat shite, why their defence is so vulnerable. It's just not as obvious because they have so much possession and their attack is so strong.
Les Ferdinand is an idiot.

You both gain and lose without having one, you wouldn't see City with well over 100 goals this season if they were set up differently to the way they are now. Conceding 3 goals at home to Arsenal for example, most teams would expect to lose then. But City go and score six.
I'd love to see them play like that against Barca, relatively open and try to outscore them at home. That'd be a great watch.

Bit of an overreaction I think. All he said was he didnt like the idea of having a midfielder that never goes forward and then goes on to explain, quite accurately, how Man City do things in midfield. “People say Yaya Toure is a holding midfielder. No he isn’t, he’s getting forward and getting goals - but if someone else goes he’ll stay in there. “Fernandinho’s scoring goals. Why? Because he’s a holding player? No. They’ve just got an understanding: ‘If he goes, I’ll hold, and if I go he’ll hold’.” From what I've seen of City this season, which is quite a bit thanks to them becoming a SKY4 team, that's pretty accurate. www.express.co.uk/sport/football/456591/Chelsea-s-Claude-Makelele-worst-thing-to-happen-to-the-Premier-League-Les-FerdinandThe picture caption and quote underneath are quite brilliant journalism mind.

Mata and Van Persie start for United tonight. Will be very interesting to see how Utd do in the next couple of weeks with the arrival of Mata and Van Persie,Rooney,Fellaini all coming back from injury. Can't wait for Liverpool Everton though, hope McGeady gets a bit of game time waited long enough for him to come to the premiership. Hoping from an Irish point of view he can improve as a player, a bit more end product and he'd be a very good player.
