wut, why? how is it any different than the shit you see at sea world? Sea World repulses me bro Zoo's? Safari Parks? Is it each unique case dependant on how helpful you deem their conservation attempts to be or just generally the idea of exploiting what should be wild animals? I'm split, I've never seen a killer whale and it's on my bucket list, so can't comment until I've physically been but I'm read up on the various incidents and recent documentaries and counter documentaries against Sea World and the likes. Went to the seal sanctuary in Skegness and felt quite annoyed at how small the swimming area was for the seals when they're educating us on how they swim across to Holland. But then I love the sealion shows at places like Flamingo Land and Chessington where they're kept in giant pools, well fed and well looked after. So many different variables

tbf the way i see it, if they're well taken care of, then i'm fine with it. Those animals probably get better treatment than 50% of world population, lol. It's another story if the animals are poorly treated, though.

@djed Only recently I've been to Colchester Zoo and the Aquarium in London so on the broader scale I can't be too dismissive, but time spent talking to people that worked at both and seeing the enclosures etc has meant that I've sort of come to terms with those particular places as acceptable, not that I have a sort of chart of standards or owt, I just won't complain as much. Earliest memory of a zoo is at Chessington and looking back it makes me depressed remembering how small the otter/seal pool was compared to numbers, but I think they put more money into it and it has improved.
Sea World on the other hand, or in particular, I just can't stomach. Just stinks of complete monopolisation/dominance over particularly wild animals for nothing but financial gain. I don't believe they provide any value for the animals and it just makes me sad really lol.
Its a hard thing to be consistently opposed to or supportive of I guess, without knowing the ins and outs of all places but that might sound a bit of a cop out. If every zoo in the world etc was closed down I wouldn't lose any sleep, and I tend not to set out and visit the places. Both trips mentioned were just kindnesses to my gf.

aye daveyposhboy I was just askin as I didn't know if it was just a thing against seaworld or a general dislike of keeping animals like that. SeaWorld is very American about the whole thing though from what I'm aware, very in your face, very brash, very ''WE'RE EDUCATING YOU BY MAKING THIS GIANT CREATURE SWIM IN A TINY POOL AND SPLASH ABOUT''.
