Result was brilliant but my god it was a bad performance. Anyone impress? I'll just take the three points at the moment, we need to strengthen in January though.

Lascelles was man of the match today for me. The thing about January is that we already pulled out of deals in the summer because there was not a fair reflection cost wise and little value to be had in some players. It was probably the right decision to pull out of those deals but I can't see value or quality improving much in January really. We've made a rod for our own back and I don't see club's valuations changing much just because we wouldn't be fleeced in the summer. I have feeling we will be in a familiar muddle come the end of the window.

This year compared to what was happening last January will be brilliant.

Its scary to think about the money we spent in the summer yet we still need to buy more in January to 'keep up with the pack/push on'. I'm worried about the emphasis Billy is putting on January. The fact is we should just be doing better.

Completely agree, some of our signings haven't had the effect they should have, but then a couple have been good. Hobbs has been solid imo, and Mackie is incredibly frustrating but is a useful player to have. Obviously it's not nice to have to spend but if it makes us better I'm not going to complain as long as it's wisely spent. That's the part we have problems with though...

I think overall our signings have been good. Our defence is much improved on last season and our midfield is, on paper, one of the strongest in the division. Hobbs is an inspired signing. Mr Reliable.

Interesting. Oldham to be in trouble over this? The player is certainly going to be in a lot of trouble now this has come out.

Why would Oldham be in trouble over that?

Oldham did nothing wrong. If they knew about it and then didn't report then they'd be in trouble, but they didn't know.

Our current managerial targets of Roy Keane, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Benito Carbone are at least a lot more interesting than last week's Steve Evans/Neil Warnock bollocks. Not necessarily better but at least a lot more entertaining.
That said, it might be nice to hire someone soonish...
