Went to watch it on Saturday, it’s just incredible. Going to go and see it again at some point this week.

After seeing Infinity War a couple of weeks ago and Deadpool 2 tonight, Marvel has treated me very well these last couple of weeks. Superb, both of them.

Solo is grand but I really wish they'd make some new Star Wars stories. I don't want to see Boba Fett, Obi-Wan or a recast Luke and Leia or whatever. I'm sure they'll be good and enjoyable but if you're saturating the market with Star Wars movies at least keep me interested by exploring completely new characters, eras, things that ARE NOT CONNECTED IN ANY WAY TO THE MAIN EPISODES
Like I can't believe the way they shoehorned in a couple references at the end of Solo. One in particular was really jarring and the other was just eye-rollingly bad.
Gimme Knights of the Old Republics or something, gimme a standalone film where a Sith lord is the protagonist, I dunno just gimme something new.

Hoooooo-ey, 5 star film. Woody Harrelson's big scene got me.

My favourite football book is (finally) coming out in movie form. Nov 9th in cinemas, Nov 12th to download.
Based on the book "Barca: The Making of the Greatest Team in the World" by Graham Hunter. The fact Messi agreed to be interviewed for it was a massive coup and a sign of how well trusted Hunter is among the Barca players.

Actually quite enjoyed the new Halloween. Story was a bit all over the place where they kept going in different directions with it but I loved the hark backs to the original

Been thinking about it lately and after watching the two again today, Interstellar has been usurped at the top of my list by Arrival.
I said it in here when I first watched Arrival just how fucking good I thought it was and I think what makes it the winner here is the length of it compared to Interstellar which, like many Nolan films, bogs down heavily in the middle act. I know Matt Damon’s appearance is important to the plot of the film but I really don’t like the middle of that film. With it being as long as it is as well, it just grates a little bit more. That said though, I do think the climax of Interstellar is the best ending to any sci fi film I’ve ever seen. Entering the black hole, being stuck in a tesseract of his own making and meeting his own dying daughter in space. Unreal.
But Arrival man. Once that plot twist hits it changes everything. Up until that point I was thinking that it’d be nice for her to hook up with Jeremy Renner because she’s had a rough time with her kid dying and husband leaving only to then realise that none of that’s happened yet and he’s the bastard responsible. The dramatic aspects of it are so good you almost forget it’s about an alien race arriving until you remember they gave her the gift of foresight. It never lets up either. Everything is in pursuit of understanding the aliens and communicating. There’s never really any explanation of sciences too difficult for the average person to understand because it’s not grounded or backed by real world science.
None of you care but I just had to get that down somewhere because I feel pretty fucking strongly about both of those films.

Having mentioned great endings, let’s talk about Venom.
Not a bad movie until the last 15 minutes where they clearly thought “oh we’ve been a bit too dark up to now let’s go really fucking light, bordering on campy”. Such a fucking shite ending. I was more impressed with the explosion when Riz Ahmed blew himself up in Four Lions.
