Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is certainly a film I saw someone call it a really well made & well acted bad movie and... yeah I’m really torn on it because it was enjoyable in that you really had to appreciate the technical side of it and the acting but then not an awful lot really happened. I love Tarantino so I did like it but yeah.

It felt to me like Tarantino had an idea in his head of certain scenes he wanted to shoot and then created a convoluted way to get them all in one film.
Hated the Bruce Lee bit
But I’d say there’s plenty I’m missing with it. I don’t know a huge amount about the Manson murders or that era of Hollywood so I’d say loads went over my head.

Also for context I’m not really a Tarantino fan. Pulp Fiction is one of my favourite films but outside of that I haven’t seen a lot of his “classic” famous ones, hated Death Proof, Inglorios Basterds was only alright imo (although the bar scene is one of my favourite bits of cinema) and yeah not seen any of the other recent ones.
And I know he’s famous for violence but the end of this was way too much for me

I loved the end, typical Tarantino really.

Just watched Blade Runner 2049 and didn’t have a clue what was going on but really enjoyed it.
And at this rate I think I’d watch a Big Bang theory film if they had Hans Zimmer do the soundtrack.

The new blade runner was great, much rather a sequel like that or even creed over these endless shite 80's reboots like robo cop and total recall which are barley watchable.

Watched Peterloo finally with the old man last night, it's really a work of art. Naturally, the last half hour is brutal viewing but it's made up of some nice panoramic shots. I feel like you would enjoy it notpropaganda allah you give me rrrroad rrrrage

Joker is class, but of a slow starter and it handholds the audience at times but really nitpicking. Joaquin Phoenix is outstanding as expected

Watched Joker last week and really really enjoyed it. I think some of the reaction has been over the top (both people praising it as the greatest film of the year/one of the greatest of all time and the hand-wringing about it).
Phoenix is sensational in it and really elevates scenes which could have come off as cheesy, weak or just plain weird (particularly thinking of the bathroom scene). I have a specific issue with how they handled the Waynes but that's nitpicking really. I also thought it wasn't the most subtle of films so a lot of the massive massive praise about it is a bit baffling to me. But it's shot beautifully and it's overall message is great.
Speaking of, some of the reactions are quite frankly laughable. I'm a liberal left weenie snowflake but I can't believe people came out of watching that film thinking it's in any way glorifying Joker or saying that his behaviour is ok. There are layers to what it's saying in my opinion (and some of Todd Phillips' intentions with it I think have been missed by the majority - specifically being allowed to joke about anything) but Joker isn't a sympathetic character, he's pitiful. It's a pretty important difference.
And suggesting there would be copycats or the alt-right will hold him up as some poster boy... I don't think that means anything really. Should we just not make art like this because somebody somewhere might take the wrong idea from it?
Also anyone saying that this film glorifies violence... have they seen literally any Tarantino movie, any war movie, any Scorcese movie? I went in prepped to be really sickened by the violence and really there's only one scene where it is properly viscerally violent.

I’m going to see it tomorrow night and I’ve heard a mixed bag of reactions (that’s not the proper use of that phrase) but mostly positive but just people who don’t think it’s their kind of film, which is fair and I appreciate when people say that rather than just calling a film bad.

Yeah when people were saying they were saying the film had too much excessive violence... I must have missed that part personally when I watched the film.

I'd put off watching Toy Story 4 for ages because I really didn't fancy it and was worried it was one if not two movies too far (but I'll accept the 3rd was perfect for closure).
It was exactly as I'd feared - a pointless story with a monumental stretch to keep it relevant to the previous films and a really, really poor story.

Thoughts on The Irishman? Was enjoyable but far too long and the final part of the film was more interesting than so much of what came before, wanted to see that explored more. Obviously the acting is phenomenal as well, Pacino in particular imo.
