It's about stopping clubs spending beyond their means.

So they've been fined £50m over 3 years, meaning they've gotta spend less for the next 3 years whilst adhering to the already set FFP rules?
Can't work out whether it's dumb/genius.

I know it's not exactly BIG money to their owners but a fucking 50m fine is a quality incentive to make clubs adhere to the rules. Can't keep getting fined that much every year even if you're super rich. Pretty sure letting them stay in the Champions League basically covers the fine. It's an awful punishment. No amount of fine will do anything to stop this. Especially given those clubs that are most likely to breach the rules, are those who can afford to pay said fines. Ban them from Europe, given them heavier bans if they do it season after season and don't learn their lesson. The Champions League is the biggest thing in club football, ban them from it (unlikely, I know, UEFA is too focused on making money, thus allowing these teams to continue in it) and they'll learn. They did it with Malaga last season. Couldn't pay a fine that large so banned them from Europe.

But we can pay a fine that large, sooooo....
Bit annoyed we've broken it tbh cause it just gives people more shit to fire at us. The 21 man squad probs hurts more tbh, we'll likely go out and sign more Sinclairs and Rodwells to makr up the homegrown rule now.

So are they players trained in England or players trained by City? If homegrown only counts for players trained in England then I expect them to go all out for Barkley in the summer.
