We are actually massively spoiled in this country when it comes to stadiums - can only think of Germany (who had the World Cup as an excuse) that have anywhere near as many high quality stadiums either recently built or being built. Was massively impressed with Anfield's work, the entire area outside the ground is incredible and yet inside it still has that classic stadium feel that I love from old English grounds. The latest works they're doing are brilliant; stadiumdb.com/pic-buildings/eng/anfield/anfield436.jpgStill amazes me from a technical stand-point how they're able to do that on top of the existing stand, without impacting the attendance at all on matchday. Once done it's going to look absolutely unreal. Really not a fan of how Everton's new ground is looking though - looks awfully dull/shallow. stadiumdb.com/pic-buildings/eng/bramley_moore_dock_stadium/bramley_moore_dock_stadium312.jpg

I’m made up with the redevelopment of anfield. Lots of talk about a new ground years ago but so happy nothing happened there. Like you said, it’s a proper stadium, would be impossible to replicate with a new ground. I sit in the anfield road for the CL this year, been great going down every few weeks to so how it’s coming along.
Tbf to Everton, you could put Goodison park in the docks and you’d still get the best away day in the PL. So jealous of what will essentially be a city centre stadium.

The new ground is on my run route and so I’ve got to see it slowly coming up over time and it does look massive. The acoustics are gonna be insane whenever a decision goes against them as well
It’s gonna be weird for me though I’ve grown up with both grounds about 2 miles away from where I live and never had to worry about matchday traffic but outside mine is gonna be a joke when that ground opens up because the road I live off is basically a hub from all northern Liverpool into the city centre, and the new ground is just off that road. Even then, it’s a huge industrial area so particularly midweek games are going to be a nightmare for people getting to

Honestly can't quite believe how much they've actually changed whilst the bowl inside basically remains the same. Purely from a logistical POV it's mad.
Can't wait to visit when it's finished, that rooftop bit looks amazing too.

holy smokes it does look incredible from the outside, it was a bit dull before and didn't really standout in the city. now it certainly will

Looks like Barca have potentially royally screwed themselves over to finance the Camp Nou works.
The stadium was already being torn down before financing was secure so there were entire sections/blocks missing at recent games. Next season they'll be playing at the Olympic stadium whilst they tear more of it down but I just don't see how they're going to spruce it up to a decent standard in such a short time frame given how long it's taken Madrid.
But yeah, 1.4 billion euros of debt taken out to be paid back within 24 years. That's a monumental amount being chucked on a club.

Honestly I'm biased anyway because I have a soft spot for the style of ground but the Anfield expansion looks incredible now it's nearing completion.

The new Everton ground is coming up quite quickly as well. It looks like it’s gonna be massive. Just a shame it’s miles away from Goodison and nowhere near Everton

The bloke who takes the update pics of Anfield also does Bramley Moore and I honestly hate it. If looks soulless. I reckon it's gonna end up being hated by the fans and viewed as more of a success for its neutral usage.

I was at Anfield last weekend, it's looking great. Looking forward to getting in there with another 7k fans. Got to give the owners a lot of credit for the redevelopment of these two stands. I love the location of Everton's new ground, think it's going to be the best away day in the country, but staying at Anfield was so important. It's impressive what they've managed to do with it, while not losing anything at all. Wouldn't expect anything to happen with the other two stands for a while yet, with the Kop in particular having major logistical barriers, but at the least they should be looking at modernising them, to bring them up to the standards of the other two.
Other than that, it's been said for years, but they really need a trainline/tramline in there. 61,000 in and out of Anfield is going to be a nightmare, and not fair on anyone.

Was 27k at the WSL Merseyside derby I was at last season and honestly the stadium was a joke to get to and from. Drawback of being a city centre stadium I guess but yeah I dread to think how they're gonna manage 61k.
I can sort of see the logic behind Everton's being a great away day but I'm guessing that's more about the location than the ground? Like, I did the Spurs stadium year before last and thought it was awfully boring and bland and I didn't really enjoy it, and Everton's looks similar.
And yeah on Anfield it's not just the stand but it's the exterior and surrounding area too. The whole exterior looks incredible tbh, they've managed to modernise it to make it look fresh whilst retaining that neighbourhood vibe.

I wouldn’t even really call Anfield and Goodison city centre stadiums tbh, they’ve just got shit transport links around them. If you’re going north or northwest like I do from Anfield, it means having to walk through Stanley Park, past Goodison and then onto County Road before I’ve got easily accessible public transport. If you’re going south/southwest into the city centre itself then it’s even worse.
Everton’s though, it’s about a 15 minute walk from the liver buildings, you can get into the city dead easily from the ground like that is as close to a city centre stadium as you’re gonna get around here. The problem is, and I think I’ve mentioned this before, there’s only currently one major hotel that can really be used for travelling fans (if they need to stay over) within a few minutes of the ground and it’s next to a water treatment plant so it stinks of shit. The road that it’s being built on, Regent Road, is literally just industrial parks and construction, so whereas from the big stands in Anfield you get a nice view of the city, you’re gonna have the Irish Sea on one side of the new ground and then construction on the other. I know that’s not what a football ground is for but it is nice sometimes getting into the ground before kick off and having a look at the sights in the distance.
I do reckon it’s gonna be considered one of the best grounds in the country though, it’s not monstrously big and it is easily accessible. Midweek games will be an annoyance because it’s on the docks and you have a lot of haulage down there but I’d imagine they’ve already planned for that. But I ran down Regent Road the other day and there was a stretch of lorries going back at least half a mile into the dock entrance, which is only about a mile and a half from where you’ll enter the ground. I’ll be going though when it first opens to see what it’s like

Although this new world cup plan is fucking stupid.
A world cup in Spain/Portugal/Morocco would be immense. Although tacking on Morocco feels like it was done just to guarantee some votes and goodwill after some domestic issues with Cueta and Mellila.
But the first three games taking place in Argentina/Paraguay/Uruguay? Lovely idea, farcical in reality.
