But Kane's never shagged a granny, so swings and round-a-bouts really.

I'd take Kane over every version of Rooney except for the one at Euro 2004 and the following season.

Kane has never reached Rooney's level of the 09-10 season. he was absolutely brilliant that season, buoyed by Ronaldo leaving

Rooney never reached the level of consistency that Kane is showing at the moment. Early days obviously but I can see Kane easily surpassing Rooneys England record now he'll always be first choice in the team.

Give me Rooney in 2004 over any version of Rooney since. He became a better goalscorer over time but he lost that imagination he had that separated him from most other players after about 2007.
It's the same with Ronaldo, I'd take the United version over the Madrid version any day of the week. As much as I hated him because he was a diving cheating cunt he was still far more exciting to watch than at Madrid.

I'd take Kane over any version of Rooney if I wanted a goalscorer.
Rooney at his peak was a better footballer there is no doubt of that but his peak was what the age Kane is just coming into now, and in a team that won the title most years packed with world class players wherever he turned.
Rooney playing top flight football since 16 has left him where he is now at 30, 31, less impactful week on week, increasingly looking more of a passenger (look through last seasons PL threads and read what people were saying about Rooney regularly) Kane became a regular at I think 22, I hate the buzzword it is but Kane seems incredibly dedicated, disciplined and physically fit to be scoring at a high rate for club and country well into his 30's if he keeps that up and doesn't have too many injury issues.

Going back to that question, was Rooney ever a better goalscorer than Harry Kane is right now at 24?

Wayne Rooney has had a 26 and a 27 league goal season. Just saying...

So not as good as Kane then!

He hasn’t though. Kane scored 29 in 30 last season. Rooney has never been close to that kind of ratio.
