D-Dog's the best for scouting. Marks enemies a whole lot better than Quiet does in my opinion.

I always use Quiet, except on the missions she can glitch obviously. It's just so much more useful to have her, scouting as well as providing a distraction when she fires.

Anyone else find D-Dog an irritating little dick? He's so useful for scouting but the number of times he stands between me and the guy I'm about to tranq, or they hear me sneaking up behind them because he's a noisy cunt (even when you tell him to wait which lasts about 5 seconds). I do still like the little bastard though, but I think now Quiet can come with me she'll be more use and stays out the way too. Set off some C4 before DD got far enough away as well so took a hit to my buddy rating. Africa is awesome, much prefer rain to sandstorms, swear the guards are more observant there than in Afghanistan as well. Yeah African guards seem to be set up a lot better, they also tend to have more on guard posts too. In Afghan the Soviets have about 3 per road post, whereas in Africa it's about 5 per post. I'm currently rebuilding my army, I lost about 80 guys from shit going down and it's a right little cunt. So I'm doing all the side ops before continuing main missions, and Fultoning everything I can get my hands on, staff, weapons, vehicles, animals, containers etc.

Something very satisfying about sniping a sniper.

Anyone completed Mission 46 yet? {SPOILER Only open if completed Mission 46}Uhhh what the fuck was that ending? So Kojima has done MGS2 again with a meta-ending that's supposed to be deep and thought provoking...DESPITE the marketing campaign about the game being "Men becoming demons", "Revenge" and it being the missing link in the Metal Gear Timeline or something.
So the whole game is essentially one big side-op from the stuff you really wanted to know about. Big Boss is a pussy who runs away and leaves the GZ chopper medic with plastic surgery to be him... So you're playing a fucking medic essentially. It resolves a plot point in Metal Gear 1 and 2 about how did Big Boss survive for MG2 and that's about it.
All emotional parts of the game seem to be for nothing now knowing this stupid twist...also killing your men on the Quarantine Deck while a great Chapter 2 mission (doesn't really take much to one of those) has no real impact on the story. It kinda ends up being forgotten about after a while.
Chapter 2 is a fucking joke by the way. Repeat missions on higher difficulty? I was hoping that Chapter 2 was going to be more story driven to make for Chapter 1 being more gameplay driven. You brutally murder Skull Face in a cold blooded manner and you think the dark turn of character of BB begins to really happen...uh nope it doesn't really. Skull Face is kinda an afterthought. His character is criminally underdeveloped. He probably has more character in GZ than in this.
Also you have to go on YouTube to find that unresolved Eli/Liquid plot thread which ends in a really stupid way in the game. Search for Mission 51.
I really could publish a dissertation on why I think the story in this fucking sucks. I've never played the Mass Effect games but it's well known that people got REALLY fucked off with the ending to the third one... Is that scenario similar to this one?
Tl;dr mode - Pre Mission 31 is great. Post Mission 31 is stupid story, stupid repeat missions on higher difficulties and straight up unfinished game that'll be DLC if we're lucky or never see the light of day. Greatest Metal Gear game in terms of gameplay. Probably the worst storywise. I'm going to blame both Kojima and Konami.

{SPOILER}Story-wise, the game never lives up to its amazing prologue because of the cut content, and overall changes that had to be made for budgetary reasons or Kojima getting the boot. You can see the groundwork there for the story they wanted it to be, the prologue is totally some MGS shit that reminds you of how great the series can be. It never delivers on that though, once you have to stretch the story out over 100+ missions/side missions, while the story itself can feel very disjointed and goofy depending on when you trigger certain elements of it. And there in lies wondering what Kojima wanted to do with the story, because I don't think this is how he wanted it to end up.

Waiting for story line missions is a ball ache, that's a downside I've found to the game.

Whenever I hit the wall in terms of no real story progression, I just did Side Ops and/or visited Mother Base to see if a cutscene would be triggered since one would sometimes to be triggered without reason. The game should present you with advancement as a result.

Mgo done released now n'all (feel like the forum's token 'video games that nobody gives a fuck about' correspondent or sowt). Fucking intense as fuck though, bounty hunters one of the most enjoyable games modes I've played on an online shooter.
Feels like the socom games when they were sweet and loads of shit was going on for no reason. Tonnes of noobs n'all (me included, as much as I've played mgs Im still not japanesely efficient at it) which has made some shit pretty wild
