Had a right taste for cheese and crackers lately, I'm becoming my own worst enemy - a wannabe middle class women. I'll be preaching to the world about Prosecco next Are we married?

I'm about 50 days away from having a deposit together for a house and have seriously began looking. I'm not scared and its worrying me. House/Appartment? On your own or with your missus? All i know is that buying my house is the best thing I've ever done. Will never understand people who throw money down a drainhole and rent instead of saving up for a deposit

Probably a lot of people's parents don't have the patience for them to save up enough for a deposit. I don't know anything about it but one of the girls in work has only just managed to buy her own house with a £15k deposit and she's 27. Don't think it's much of a choice for many people.

I've got a deposit saved up good to go and fingers crossed I don't need to dip into it for any emergencies, I'm planning to keep it sat there whilst renting for a bit, probably not the best idea to just move straight in together and buy a house in case it all goes tits up.
But then I'm also too finnickity to sort out getting a new car until this one dies so it'll probably still be a while yet.

Well you need somewhere to live m8 well obviously there's circumstances where you may have to move out and rent but i'm on about people who move out on their own devices when 17/18 getting out as soon as they can to get their freedom but yet under the power of a landlord.

I don't think landlords are what you think they are.
It's not likely I can get a mortgage until 2017. Gives me a year to get together a 20%+ deposit.

I havent spoken to my landlord since I moved in 9 months ago. No 'power' over me at all. If anything goes wrong where I live its their responsibility to fix it and not mine. Dont see whats wrong with renting at all tbh.

She moved into mine before Christmas when her contract on her place expired for the very reason of saving more. Thankfully my mum is understanding because as Paul said I'm 27 and only just getting my deposit together. Really looking forward to it now. Viewing one in the area I want Saturday and one local tomorrow. Mad how quick some have gone only since Christmas when we've been trying to view them Haha notpropaganda two of my best mates got married this summer (not to each other). That seems scary to me. Kids and marriage are years off I hope. But I think I'll really enjoy getting out.

It's something I find very interesting given we're brought up getting told that we have to save up and buy our own house when we're older, yet when you look on the continent the majority rent and a lot more live in flats/apartments.

Landlords are awful in Ireland, the laws are terrible and it's just all round a cunt of an experience.

Dont get me wrong I'd love my own place but I never had the option to stay at home till I was nearly 30 and save up shit loads of money. I've been renting since I was about 20/21. Maybe one day I'll get the chance to save up but I'm not really arsed. Cost of a mortgage is going to be the same as the cost of renting. If I had a missus renting would be a bit cheaper cos everything would be split. I pay £300 a month rent, if I didnt have my car to pay for I'd be perfectly fine financially without the worry of having to spend money on renovations or whatever cos it's the landlords responsibility.

We're in the process of buying a house, much easier to buy with a partner to save a deposit with, lovely 280k place but it's depressing how much bigger a house we can get if we lived further away from London.
