That’s only the second game I’ve seen Michael Hector play and all I knew of him prior was he was a victim of the Chelsea loan system but he looks a player. If they don’t go up I can see Bournemouth going for him to replace Ake. If Fulham doesn't go up he probably has bigger things on offer, he was very good for us last year and I'd say that he's been Fulham's best player since he joined them.

His wages were tripled, he's improved massively and his profile has risen beyond recognition to the player Chelsea signed five years ago.
Victim though apparently.

I realize that this point has been debated to death and I'm typically on the side of thinking that Chelsea's loan system has a worse reputation than it deserves (hell, I love to sign Brazilian teenagers on FM too, lads) but they really didn't do anything for Michael Hector other than turn a small profit and let him spin his wheels for a few years.
They signed him at the comparatively older age of 23 because he was a later developer and he was due to make a move from Reading at that point anyway so his wages were about to triple regardless, he barely trained with Chelsea outside of one preseason tour so any improvement is due to his own work and the work of the loaning clubs, and they shipped him to clubs at the same level that they signed him from which did about naught to improve his profile.

He’s a victim of it in the sense yous signed him at the age of 23 and bounced him round everywhere with no intention of ever letting him play for Chelsea. Chelsea had nothing to do with his improvement as a player as well so you can leg that. It is okay to criticise your club sometimes.

There are plenty of things that Chelsea could receive valid criticism for. In my opinion the loan system isn't one of them.
The idea of referring to any of them as victims is overkill and then some. They know what they're signing up to. If they're good enough they will make it at Chelsea or get a big money move elsewhere and if they're not good enough they will end up at a level that matches their ability.

Yeah fair point that except how many actually get given a chance to prove if they’re good enough? Abraham, Tomori, James, Mount and Gilmour all would’ve been loaned out this season if they hadn’t had the transfer ban. Most likely would’ve been stuck in a loop of constant loans until being sold 3 years down the line as well. Who has honestly come out of Chelsea’s loan system and made it at Chelsea? Courtois? I’m not gonna argue they don’t have really good players they loan out cos Salah and De Bruyne exist but they were also never really given a chance.

I’m not gonna argue they don’t have really good players they loan out cos Salah and De Bruyne exist but they were also never really given a chance. If Sarri had stayed or Chelsea appointed any other manager from Europe then I would agree the youngsters who have broken through this season would have had no chance. I believe Lampard would have played these guys transfer ban or no transfer ban. His assistants Morris and Edwards coached them at youth level so it's not hard to understand this view point. To what extent they would have played if we signed players we'll never know. The loan system isn't by and large in relation to home grown youngsters but youngsters acquired from abroad who must see it as a win-win situation and a massive opportunity for them. Some notable success stories - for the club in terms of money made or players who made it to the first team would be Courtois, Zouma, Christensen and Pasalic. There are numerous lesser known players the club have made a profit on as well. I wouldn't consider De Bruyne or Salah in this as they were signed to be immediate first team players. Unfortunately the club backed Mourinho's judgement on them and it backfired horribly. It's worth noting that the overall number of players loaned out is dropping considerably from five years ago. Also, my initial response to you was overly arsey. Sorry about that.

Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t the point of the system the profitability of it anyway? Regardless of the ethics, it’s working considering even if you didn’t give players a chance you get a shit ton of money for them anyway.
I quite like the idea of a player cap and a salary cap in football but it’d never get approved, so in the mean time it’s a good way of making a lot of money for a fairly limited amount of effort.

Can't believe that Harrogate is in the Football League now. That weird little Yorkshire club who were bought by the father of their manager will now get to enjoy matches such as Bolton, Bradford, and the ever popular away day at Grimsby. It's a nice story, that.

That Brentford keeper is a calamity.
Is this the same fella who tried to control a wayward pass and it went in? Was that this year?
