What a win. Few dodgy decisions aside, how well we recovered from 1-0 down early in the game to dominate the rest, that would’ve never happened under Emery. Considering that was one of our worst seasons, to end it with a FA Cup is actually crazy

Had no idea about the rule of the foul carrying into the box, fair enough. I just don’t think it’s a foul though, going the other way I’d be thinking thank fuck we got a pen there.
As I said it doesn’t really matter, Chelsea were shite and conservative choices from Lampard all round.

If it continues in the box it’s a foul in the box, isn’t that the rule? I don’t think by any means it was stonewall or anything but his hands were all over Aubameyang, he’s more lucky he wasn’t sent off than anything else. Obviously the second yellow is daft but that’s exactly what VAR should be there for, at full speed I don’t even blame the referee that much. Personally to me Lampard’s initial team and subs were so timid, like he bought far too much into solidity and experience than just playing his best players. Giroud held the ball up well and had so little support. When Pulisic goes off how do you put Pedro on over Hudson-Odoi? I've come to the conclusion that Lampard doesn't like CHO. It must be his character or something we don't see on match day because his treatment isn't the result of a lack of ability. Putting a 33 year old Pedro on over him when he isn't even going to be our player in two weeks is disgraceful and it was a shocking substitution. I think he should leave for his own sake because while Lampard is manager it seems he will never be given a proper chance to establish himself. At least that's how it seems atm. Hopefully Willian leaves and his fortune changes. After Pulisic he is Chelsea's best winger.

I don't get how people don't think it's a foul? He's all over the back of Auba which stops him getting the shot off, with no attempt to play the ball. arsenalist.com/f/2018-19/26-arsenal-win-penalty-2020-08-01.htmlRight hand on the waist, left hand over the shoulder. I can see how in real time it looks soft (and it is), but surely without any attempt to play the ball Azpilicuetta has impeded Auba and stopped him from getting a shot off? Just genuinely curious as to how people don't think it's a foul, they get given outside the box all the time, plus there was nobody claiming Luiz was wrongly penalised for doing the same thing against City or Liverpool. Also on Pedro > CHO, I actually think Pedro was really dangerous when he came on, had the beating of Holding a few times and he was popping up in dangerous spaces loads, he just didn't have anyone to play with when he got there. Giroud was absolutely anonymous beyond his assist, they did not play to his strengths at all, and I can't even recall Abraham getting a touch.

I thought it was markedly similar to David Luiz’ red card against City. I can totally see why you’d think it isn’t a foul, I think both are, just about, but I can’t see how once you give the foul you don’t give the red, he’s made no movement with his feet to win the ball, the entire foul is in the upper body pulling him back, which is not a legitimate attempt at the ball so double jeopardy doesn’t apply. Exactly the same as the David Luiz one.

Aye but that only applies if there's an attempt to play the ball, which is why Luiz was sent off Vs City. By Anthony Taylor Anthony Taylor doing something to benefit City. I am amazed. He’s like all the shouts people used to make towards Howard Webb and United, except worse because he’s literally from Manchester.

I think they're both soft as shit but once you give them they're both reds, I do think the Luiz one is more of a foul though because I think he uses more force to pull Mahrez back, it's more cynical than the Azpilicueta one for me.
How the ref can say he's made an attempt for the ball is beyond me though lmao.

Defenders try and position themselves and jostle all the time, both are definitely beaten for pace and trying to reposition themselves but mostly I just don't think there is enough contact from either Luiz or Azpi for Mahrez/Aubameyang to properly impede them. I used to play as a defender pretty competitively and that probably informs my bias pro-defender view on it as well, I'd be raging if a ref gave something like that against me anyways, pretty irrelevant in the grand scheme

I’ve not really much to add to that but if that’s the Luiz one where he just full on grabbed hold of Salah (think it was him, remember the incident can’t remember the player), then that’s a mental point because that one and Saturday’s penalty were night and day. That’s even with me leaning towards penalty for Saturday’s one as well.

Aye it's not the Liverpool one. Tbf he's given away five this year and they all blur into one. Definitely been at least one more like it though.
