Did you guys know that Alphonso Davies was born in a refugee camp and that Tony Pulis thought Gnabry was shit at West Brom? he's also Canadian apparently? A good Canadian footballer?

Neuer has to be considered the greatest keeper ever IMO. Another final where he has not only made world class saves but also helps Bayern's defence play 10 yards further up the pitch than they otherwise would because he sweeps up everything over ther top. There has been no other keeper as impactful to their team as Neuer has been for over a decade now. I feel like he had a period where he regressed a bit (and I think he was injured for a while) and I think it's difficult to argue for an absolute best keeper given how much the role has changed in recent years - but I'd definitely argue he's been the most impactful both to the team, and also the position in general.

Also I hate Herrera, proper rat, and yet I actually thought he was one of their better players. Set up two glorious chances with really good passes.

Neuer changed the game and when you do that you have to be considered the best. How many other players transformed a position like he has? Makelele?

Roberto Carlos maybe?
Makelele is a great shout though.

I gave this a ridiculous amount of thought earlier (admittedly it was a really dull meeting) and there were not that many players I could really think of. Dani Alves is the main one that came to mind, he was probably the first proper full-back who was actively drawn into the attacking play as much as he was the defensive. I did want to chuck in the false striker but I think that was more a position made popular by Del Bosque's Spain rather than any specific player.

Take issue with innovative = best especially when it comes to Makelele. Probably have Neuer ahead of say Buffon personally but there’s been South American keepers playing that sort of style for years hasn’t there? He’s just been the biggest name and is also insanely good at it, rarely gets caught out.

Without Rakim you don't have Nas, Jay Z, Biggie or Eminem.
