I've convinced myself I've got Autism, that or everyone else in the world is this way too. Either or. I watched a documentary on Channel 4 a couple of years ago that made me suspect pretty strongly that I was on the spectrum (there's all sorts of people with it that don't fit the most obvious stereotypes). I went to my GP to ask if they could confirm and they gave me a multiple choice questionnaire to fill out to screen for it. I scored highly enough on there that I was referred to a specialist who I was meant to do a bunch of in person tests with so they could formally confirm the diagnosis but it turned out after a few months of waiting that my area doesn't have any funding for that except for under 18s and people who are affected developmentally iirc (cheers Tories). But I've basically been operating on the assumption that I am since then and it's me made feel like a lot less of a dickhead about reacting in certain ways to particular situations as well as explaining it to people I know. Might be worth checking out what services your area provides if you want to find out. Does explain why I can become so nerdy and anal about things that grab my attention in a relatively short space of time (see SNC Xmas and NFL thread). Been putting off visiting the doc about it. Seems like it'd be a really weird convo but I know in reality it'll be the same as any other doctors appointment and last 3 minutes with the doctor standing up mid sentence trying to get me out. At least i'll get the referral though.

SNC = Special Needs Central
Sorry. I've often thought about whether i'm slightly on the spectrum and i've got a bit of OCD but nothing serious. It would be the least of my worries tbh.

Hahaha I was actually thinking you went very 0-100 on NFL really quickly not that long ago. Not actually that unlike myself to be honest now I think about it, interesting to hear all of that.

If there’s people you know how you’re comfortable discussing that stuff with they might even tell you things you didn’t realise about yourself (e.g. my mum told me I didn’t start talking until I was about 18 months which is relatively late and can be an indicator). It’s easy to get side tracked in GP appointments for anything because they’re generally so I usually make a couple of bullet points in my notes app of the key things I want to discuss and take it in with me.

I don't have any real medical concerns but I have a real difficulty with forgetting what people look like, it's gotten worse over the last couple of years. I am speaking with people over email that I've met 2-3 times in person and I don't have the slightest recollection of what they look like. This has happened at least 20 times in the last year. I went to a networking event at work last week but I am genuinely struggling to remember what most of the people look like
I spoke to my wife about it and she thinks I'm being a twat, I've convinced myself this is a medical issue

Addictive/obsessive, don't do slang, don't understand most social norms, don't do eye contact, enjoy my own company. I've been pretty sure of it since my late-teens.

It used to be wee junkies would come in and steal them from the hospital I work in. Now they are all in these little lock and key containers but I wouldn't be surprised to see people at them.
100% the tabloids feeding all this shite though.

Being black must be so tiring.
So my girlfriend is from Coventry, so I spend a fare bit of time out the city. I always tell her it’s difficult being scouse (obviously not that difficult, but perspective please). Everybody you meet already has an opinion formed of you. And that happened last night. Was at an engagement party and a girls uncle was just an absolute tit. I got called scouse all night - standard. And had the usual watch the wallet jokes. Which is growing harder and harder to fake laugh at. He then proceeded to tell in a blow by blow just why he hates scousers, but I’m alright cos I’m “not one of them”? White privilege kicking in, but I just couldn’t be bothered with that more regularly. It must be so draining.
He was an Arsenal fan though, so jokes on him.
Ah well. No big deal, just wanted to get it off my chest really.
Five mins have passed and I already regret comparing my experiences to racism. But that’s where you end up when you’re hungover sometimes.
