Tom Hanks has said on twitter that he has tested positive.
NBA season called off after a player tested positive as well..
How long until the Prem is at least behind closed doors?

Probably later than it should be. No way should this weekend’s fixtures be going ahead and it’s pretty disgraceful how 3000 Atletico Madrid fans were at Anfield last night. Our government is so far behind where we should be it seems.

Even Trump enforcing travel bans now. Can only imagine the UK will be added to the ban list shortly. Today is set to be the first day with new cases in the 3 figures (rather first day announced, the figures are delayed a day so we're likely already there). COBRA meeting this afternoon where we'll probably see some shutdown of schools, workers encouraged to work remotely and probably sport being put behind closed doors.

I still can't get my head around what happens next tbh. Trying to plan around it for work too is a nightmare because it changes daily.
The US travel ban is odd - so many people have connecting flights that leave from the UK even though they originate in Europe. He does have golf resorts in the UK though....

I've seen this as a criticism a lot (well people will just go via the UK) but the ban actually applies to anyone who has been in the Schengen Area in the last 14 days. Business Continuity is part of my role at work (where I finish next Thursday, I timed that well ). Today a bunch of people (everyone on the critical persons list - though they didn't exactly advertise that fact...) have been asked to work from home today to test/confirm they can. Used my usual commute time to nip to the supermarket instead of waiting till my usual shop tonight as I think more panic will set in if/when new measures come in after the COBRA meeting today. Not a single roll of toiler paper in the place.

Snap - been ridiculously difficult to establish our business continuity response only for the situation to change again.
But I've got a week off next so that's also timed well.

Real Madrid squad in quarantine.
La Liga postponed for two weeks.
McLaren pulling out of the Melbourne GP.
Surely, surely this is it for sport for the next few weeks at all levels?

Ireland closing schools and encouraging working from home. Outdoor events of over 500 people cancelled.
All eyes on Boris.

We've just had our first death in Ireland, and I think we only have 34 cases confirmed or something along those lines. I keep seeing the buzzword being "containment phase" just now. I'm still a little confused because they've cancelled all the Paddy's Day festivities but the GAA matches are all still going ahead as far as I know, and there'd be significant crowds at quite a few of those. We're playing on Saturday and I'd expect at least 8k at it but haven't seen a whisper of the matches being postponed. less than a day later lol. to be expected I suppose, I wonder what'll happen in the UK now, with the open border it's kinda pointless taking measures unless NI follow suit

The Netherlands, with 24 more cases than the UK, have just cancelled all gatherings of over 100 people, suspended the Eredivisie and told people to work from home.
Can't wait for Boris' new song recommendation to wash our hands to.

This is like something from a movie, never did I imagine watching a PM tell us on live TV that many more families are gonna lose a loved one.
Usually they try and lie and say it's about balancing the budget.

Wait. We've moved from "contain" to "delay" but we're not changing anything.
What.
