I was in one of the biggest bars in Belfast last night, they had a really good setup for outside, tables numbered for servers taking your order, contactless payments etc. Weather was shite and they handed you a poncho and umbrella as you walked in (as well as having awnings and gazebos up), hand sanitizer everywhere, as you were let in the bouncers sprayed your hands with sanitizer too, really clear instructions, toilets well managed - but after a bit of time and more drink taken, people get sloppy and messy and it sorta highlight to me that the pubs can do absolutely everything and it's just the nature of alcohol and drinking that it doesn't really matter, restrictions won't work unless you limit people to the actual amount of drinks they can order rather than a time limit in my opinion. Like there were a few tables of people that kept ordering trays of shots with every round and the rounds were coming thick and fast like. Eventually staff find that really hard to manage.

Tbf, of you're in an office you should be keeping 2m apart anyway. That's how we've set up, whereas in a shop you've got all sorts of weirdos leaning over you.

18 days with no deaths in Scotland but a few clusters breaking out. One in Aberdeen in pubs very near where I stay. Started with 13 cases from one bar last weekend (announced yesterday) and has already extended to 27 positive cases and 123 people being traced and told to isolate. What makes it worse is some of the photos from one of these bars in particular from Saturday just passed. That was Saturday night. On Sunday morning they were phoned by someone who was there on Friday who has since tested positive. They closed for 2 hours to clean and advised their staff to get tested "if it made them feel better" but they didn't contact any customers or make anyone aware of the potential outbreak until some of the staff started leaking whatsapp messages today. Councillors, MSPs and big Nicola going mental. That bar in particular were given a huge area in the street infront of it (the main street through Aberdeen that has been partially closed to help businesses have outside areas) but looks like they're taking the piss. They claim they have been very strict with the guidelines inside and will put in place improvements for their queue but people who were in at the weekend were saying it was packed - elbow to elbow.

Majority of the city centre pubs in Aberdeen have closed today (on their own accord) for an unknown length of time citing safety of staff and customers.

Friday we are/should have been going. What areas are covered in the lockdown? We are staying 34 miles away from the city centre like.... Anybody got a spare room for the week? Olivier has really let me down here.

Wait, what. 34miles away from the city centre. It'll just be the Aberdeen City Council area - so a very small area and won't stop you visiting most of the places I mentioned in my post. The little orange area. If you are 34 miles outside the city centre you are probably 30 miles outside the City Council boundaries.

Haha yeah, I didn’t realise how far away it was until just then. I thought it might be a 20 min drive or something. I’ve always just said Aberdeen cos it’s easier. It’s in the countryside, little town called Fettercairn? We’ll be sound around there then, just spoils a few days out, no big deal.

Ah near Laurencekirk. Not too long a drive into the city but definitely outside any restriction zone they'll put in place.
Local rumour has this outbreak starting with 2 offshore workers - one French, one English - who travelled here to get choppered to a rig. On check-in they had their temperature checked and told it was too high and to get tested. Got tested and while waiting for their results sat in a city centre bar getting hosed. Absolutely no substance to the rumours but as it blames the English I'll go for it.

People from Shetland get very touchy about maps like the one I posted above. They're really much further North
