Definitely not clickbaiting but may get some discussions going that aren't virus related at least.
Can be goals, teams, performances, players, managers.
I'll start with Zidane - as a player and a manager. Granted, I didn't see as much of him as I'd have liked to, but I just feel his influence as a player was massively exaggerated. And don't get me started on his performance as a manager. I feel like they won the CL in spite of him rather than because of him. His team talks at half time were a joke (a few were uploaded on youtube and consisted of little more than come on, push forward, come on come on come on) and he made baffling decisions frequently. If anything it was the luck of the draw and 'being real' (there's a Spanish phrase for it but it's similar to Liverpool at Anfield and United in injury time it's just a 'thing') that led them to it.
inb4 invincibles.

Zidane's legacy definitely benefited from having big performances in the most important games of his career (World CUp and Champions League final) but I don't think anyone serious rates him as a GOAT or anything like that. He would easily be in the top 3 of his generation imo. though.
For me a lot of PL players from the early to mid nineties get inflated by the our media partly because a lot of them or their contemporaries are now pundits. The standard of the league really wasn't all that during that period.

Kaka - Had a maybe 2 year spell where he was one of the best players in the world, but held onto that reputation a lot longer through some seriously average spells

Didn't Bolton score another worldy team goal that year? Mark Davies maybe?
How dare you about Zizou! Whatever about him as a manager his influence as a player on the biggest stage is incredible. I think he typifies that French sorta "which version is gonna show up today, the lazy liability or the fella that will beat your entire team all on his own" but that just adds to his aura I suppose.
It's harsh to judge him on anything like todays' standards for goalscoring and that, but I remember seeing him in Dublin and the stat sheet would probably say he was anonymous but he was so far ahead of literally everyone else on the pitch that night, teammates included, it was amazing. (Henry also scored a worldy)

To be fair, I've never really got why Bergkamp was so highly rated by our fans either but I guess it's one of those things where the player just had an aura, they appear a class above.

This is my spoilt 90s child speaking here but I find it hard to rate players from certain eras when I look at how bad goalkeepers tended to be in the 70s and 80s. Obviously there are exceptions there and there are players who would clearly be unbelievable in any era but I dunno, it just looked easy to score against some of these keepers.

Didn't Bolton score another worldy team goal that year? Mark Davies maybe? Yup: Still rate Elmander's above that though just cause I've not seen a player score a goal like that since, whereas I've seen great team goals and overhead kicks since.

It’s why I think Wilshere’s goal vs Norwich is one of the best ever, because it’s a one of a kind.

Yeah Wilshere’s, the Elmander goal and that Schurrle goal I posted the other day are just unbelievable. All just require a huge level of skill.
