Chucking two more in here after the weekend.
Foden won't make it at City - still think Grealish is the better player but he may have looked better as the big fish in a small pond.
Salah's goal wasn't as good as everyone is going on about. Comparisons with Messi/Maradona? Give over. Brilliant goal, great skill, but being massively over hyped today and yesterday.

It's an amazing goal but I think the weak attempted tackle from Cancelo and then Foden and how easily Silva gets done takes away from the aesthetic of it a wee bit.. but at the same time he has his back to goal with three City players converging on him and he gets free before turning Laporte inside out and scoring from an incredibly tight angle on his weaker foot against one of the top keepers in the world... nah ignore my first bit it's amazing

grealish is better than foden? lol Has a much, much greater body of work to show for it - Foden has a handful of performances at best - he's not even a guaranteed starter for City (although I reckon he probably now may be). And on the Salah goal IG, maybe it is that, it just felt like he didn't have to work too hard to beat them, nor did he have to travel too far to do so. I was following on the radio, then waited until MOTD to watch it and just thought eh, good goal that. Then on football weekly they were raving about it and mentioned the two Argies and I'm convinced they've seen a different goal to me. Don't mean to downplay it either because it's a great goal - but I don't think it's worthy of the hype it's getting.

My biggest takeaway from yesterday, other than how good Salah is, was why did City pay £100m for Grealish, when they already have Foden?

I mean that is a fair question, they're similar enough and that money probably buys them Haaland in the summer otherwise.

I think that's just the nature of these wonder goals is they always leave the defence looking like amateurs.

Not Premier League but it's easier to stand out as a left footed player and Messi wouldn't be as good if he was right footed because he'd be coming up against a greater calibre of full back.

Don't even believe that myself but did find it curious that there's no comparative type of right footed winger on the left but you have Robben/Messi who made careers out of cutting inside.

Was basically Ronaldo until he morphed into a pure striker surely. Also Henry? I’m not having that one like I’m afraid

Was Ronaldo though? His most effective work came through the middle I thought - I can't ever recall him cutting in onto his right so often.
Likewise with Henry, he wasn't often the one out wide cutting in.
Was a thought I had driving to work, is there a right footed Messi/Robben type player and wondered if it was down to a smaller pool of left footed players/defenders of quality.

I can recall a load of Ronaldo goals cutting in from the left like (especially for Real Madrid he just seemed to stand out there and wait for the ball to come), I think he just scored so many goals altogether that it wasn’t his trademark in the same way Robben was. But that was Henry’s trademark surely, he’d start off through the middle and wouldn’t be a wide player but he always drifted off out there to collect the ball.
