Most likely Chris Jones' last game for the team. Plz sign off with a big one. What a guy.

Kyle Shanahan goes full Guardiola in the Super Bowl There was a brief period where McCaffrey seemed to disappear from the playbook a bit but otherwise thought he coached a pretty good game against an elite defence? Think this is harsh, game only went to OT because Shanahan went for it on 4th down in field goal range down 3, not his fault his kicker shanks an extra point either

Chiefs adjusted to the run in the second half. Think McCaffrey only ended up having like 3.6 YPC for the game so idk if pivoting v ground game heavy would have been some magic solution. With every point in the game ending up being crucial still think this was an oversight from Kyle, though. Kyle letting the half run out with 20 secs left and two timeouts in his pocket is a bit of a let off. Chiefs very lucky to be within one score at the half.

Think this is harsh, game only went to OT because Shanahan went for it on 4th down in field goal range down 3, not his fault his kicker shanks an extra point either think the playcalling after the Mahomes INT was poor. the momentum shift is huge there. they didn't capitalise at all, first play is a pass play that gets blown up immediately because of poor blocking, false start after that puts them 5 back so ok they're 2nd & 15. But imo KC's strength is the secondary. Get it into McCaffrey's hands in a screen, Deebo on an end around or something, not just a straight drop back for Purdy. Wobbly throw on 2nd down goes nowhere, then he's flushed out on 3rd and nothing happens. I just thought it was a bit of nothing from 49ers after a huge turnover and momentum shift. You can look at the individual situations and talk about player execution, maybe the calls were great, but I dunno, zero runs or run-like plays (slants or screens or something) just helped KC. To me that happened quite a bit, where KC stalled on offence and the 49ers (supposed) strength had the chance to just stamp their authority on the game and take over, but they just... didn't.

Fell asleep in the 3rd fully expecting the Chiefs to win especially after the 9ers came out and passed on their first 6 plays
Worst halftime show I can remember as well. Feel like he actually song about 25% of each song

Plus he didn’t really mess up with the Falcons either but #narrative But there’s no way the 49ers offence should be worried about any defence imo, that shouldn’t have been too much of a factor. Chiefs had a good D but not like an all time defence for the 49ers to be too worried about.

But there’s no way the 49ers offence should be worried about any defence imo, that shouldn’t have been too much of a factor. Chiefs had a good D but not like an all time defence for the 49ers to be too worried about. Thinks that's doing Spags and the boys a bit of a disservice imo. There were always schematic issues in the matchup that meant Shanahan wasn't going to be able to run his bread and butter offense with the success he'd been used to through the regular season. The 49ers live in tight formations so you don't know who out of McCaffrey, Deebo Kittle etc is going out on which route. It also makes run/pass looks appear very similar. The Chiefs love to blitz their DBs which is a hell of a lot easier if they're not pretending to cover someone on the boundary. The 49ers live off YAC. The Chiefs have the toughest tackling DBs in the league (not just Sneed and McDuffie but pretty much the entire room). Outside of Trent the 9ers O-line really isn't very good. Kyle manages to hide it well by getting them moving but when you come up against a team that's happy to blitz creatively sorting out who is meant to be picking up who gets complicated and they whiffed on that on a couple of key downs on Sunday. Having a soft interior is also not a great recipe against Chris Jones. A big point that I didn't really give enough credence to before the game was that in the Spagnuolo era if the Chiefs reeeeeally have to stop the run to have a chance he generally has a plan (see Derrick Henry and the 9ers in 2019, the Eagles SB last year). I was worried after seeing the Bills ground game destroy them a couple of weeks back but the coaches basically explained that they were happy to let that go to make sure it wasn't Allen's arm that beat them that day. On Sunday they were aggressive in their run fits and got better as the game went on. A couple of role players really stepped in that regard too. Mike Pennel (practice squad elevation) managed to move Trent on a couple of key plays and Leo Chenal (4th choice LB) was lights out against Kittle setting the edge. Since he came to San Francisco the name of the game with stopping Shanahan is to get him in 3rd and long. Purdy can create more than Jimmy G but his lack of arm strength and inconsistent accuracy really shows up whenever he can't set his feet which was apparent time and again when the Chiefs got quick pressure (again that soft interior didn't help).

Yeah it was night and day before and after Feliciano went down, and Jones almost single handedly stopped biting on the pulling plays. Really felt momentum wise like it was game over midway through the third quarter imo

How horrible that you can’t even celebrate your team winning the Super Bowl without the risk of a fucking loonball deciding to murder you

Way-too-early 2024 draft assessment:
Best Name: Kool-Aid McKinstry Worst Name: Michael Penix

This is great, the suspension will negate about $11m in guarantees the Raiders would have to pay for cutting him.
