you dont make it to 3rd highest wicket taker ever by always taking easy wickets. his bowling bullies batsman into making mistakes

I stand corrected. Just been made aware of this record from cricinfo, don't know if it's true, but they wouldn't be wrong.
'He has dismissed the opposition team's leading run-scorer 44 times in Tests, which is the highest in the period since he made his debut, and joint sixth in the all-time list'
Now that's impressive.
Although it doesn't help that he is a bit of smarmy git.

He's by far the most destructive bowler in world cricket when he has his tail up. The amount of games he's won us with a ridiculous spell is just crazy.

Absolute shambles that Stephen Parry has been left out for Liam Dawson. Parry was easily the best T20 spinner last year, and Dawson took 0 wickets in the entire competition. Bayliss has literally never seen Dawson play ffs.

In for his batting I reckon, more a batsman than a bowler.

Do we really need a third spin all-rounder? It's not like he's going to play ahead of Ali or Rashid, better off taking a proper spinner like Parry.

Ali and Rashid will both play. Neither Dawson or Parry will play in the first choice team, if either of Ali or Rashid become unavailable then Dawson is more of a like for like replacement due to his batting.

That's pretty much my thoughts too. Also think Dawson's probably a better batsman than you're giving him credit for Hamish, opened for Hampshire in the blast a fair bit iirc.

That's fair enough, but I'd still say its mad not to take a full time spinner (even with Rashid) to India though, and Parry was easily the best spinner in the blast.

Not a very "Indian conditions" sort of spinner though, his flight is his main weapon to deceive batsmen, doesn't get loads off the pitch, which is where Rashid excels even if he lacks control at times.

They wouldn't have got through anyway imo, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe should walk it considering they're the "Test nations".

Bowling attack has a whole has been nowhere good enough but Reece Topley has been awful. His fielding is bad too, think they need to bring Plunkett in for him. Should have expected this without Finn tbf.

I don't mind Topley, bare in mind we'd been in great form before these two games.
