I’m away in the last two weeks of July, the wait will have to go on!

Missed this yesterday because I was asleep after work but looks like the Anfield Road expansion is in its early stages with consultations with locals, local business, supporters and stakeholders being held.
The idea is to expand the Anfield Road end by 7000 seats boosting the stadium capacity to 61000, with the height of the end matching that of the main stand.
Have to say, it makes me wonder if they’ll continue to house away fans there if this expansion goes ahead. I know a few grounds around the country give a section of one of the bigger stands to the away fans, Old Trafford, Villa Park and Goodison come to mind straight away. I’d think they’d section off park of the centenary to away fans.

New Anfield road end looks immense. Hope they end up re-doing the lot to push it up to 80k tbh.

Can’t really see it happening any time soon though tbh. Council funding, as stretched as it is, is being put towards Bramley Moore and I’m sure a new housing estate has been put up on Walton Breck Road, which the Kop backs onto, and there’s no existing railway station there which is a prerequisite for arenas over a certain capacity I think.
As for the Centenary I think it runs into similar issues, so chances are we’ll end up looking more like Old Trafford does with uneven stands, although I do appreciate how much effort they’re putting in to uniformity. It’s going to be mad seeing the Anfield Road end look as big as it will.

New stadium is pretty much complete. Only thing I don't like about it, is the multi coloured seats. Just have it red ffs.

Maybe it's so that it looks full on TV
Saw it flying into Heathrow a few weeks back, they've proper wedged it in there.

That's a smart looking ground. Glad to see, with this alongside Millwall's announcement and Craven Cottage being reworked, that clubs are finding ways to get round restrictive London councils

I really liked the Bernabeu, it had that same concrete mass that Camp Nou and San Siro have, but it also had a fair bit of charm and character about it - but this looks like something else, if they manage to retain or even improve on the feeling of size and scale inside the stadium, whilst delivering what looks like some next level exterior, then they're up there with some of the best stadiums in the world imo - and it really would make Madrid a must visit for anyone interested in football because the Wanda is impressive, and then you've also got Getafe, Levante and Rayo Vallecano within half hour of each other.
Actually really good to see they're re-dressing it too because the latest with the San Siro is that they'll knock it down and re-build something closer to a 40k seater in it's place, and the Camp Nou is falling apart at the seams and they have barely got the money to pay the players as it is.

The only shame is we’ll probably struggle to ever get the whole ground looking like that unless we just re-roof the Kop and Centenary because the Kop backs onto a major road and the Centenary I’d assume already has too much of a footprint. Just hope we don’t end up with it looking like Old Trafford, which is immense in just size but it’s misshapen and jagged.
The Annie is a good stand though, it’ll be great when they do it up and fuck the away fans off to a corner somewhere instead.

Barcelona have updated their plans for the Camp Nou. stadiumdb.com/news/2021/10/barcelona_changes_to_espai_barca_revealedNot a fan. Inside it looks impressive, but it also looks like the characterless, soul-less bowl that most new NFL stadiums are. The exterior looks cheap, and I think they've vastly underestimated how much work is needed to actually bring the current stadium into a state where they can then build onto it. The area around the ground, the arena and the hotels make sense. The big elephant in the room is they reckon nearly a quarter of all funds to pay for it will come from naming rights, yet it's not been mentioned at all to the socios. It'll go through because it has to, but at a time of HUGE financial difficulties they're going to have to do some really careful accounting to cover the costs of it.

Thought this might be of interest to people
Bizarre to see how easy it is to just tear the pitch into three and move it. Let alone where they store it. Seems mental that less than 10 years ago we were seeing pitches turn into mud-baths and in really piss poor condition, and now they're able to literally build them four inches deep on top of a giant rolling platform and keep it alive and growing underneath a stand for two weeks.
On that point though, Real Madrid's system (if it works) is even more outrageous.
The outside of it looks shite, I'm not a fan of just turning it into a characterless bowl but inside looks insane.

Agree on the new bernabeu. Insane level of detail and mechanics on the inside. Looks very bland on the outside

Barcelona yes, Nou Camp no.
The tour is great - but as a matchgoing fan it's awful, crumbling concrete mess. Not even a fan of the proposed remodelling either.
The city is amazing though.
