I feel the same way re: knowing the nuances of plays. I know which plays I can usually rely on in late game situations when I'm dow or third and long situations. I think having the same receiving corps since I arrived in Cleveland of Gordon, Coleman, Barnidge and Williams has helped because I know what areas they excel in.
I am disappointed though that our first choice RB offers very little in the way of a viable option. We signed Giovani Bernard in the offseason and it's hard to stay patient with a bunch of one yard gains and losing yards. He's been injured lately, so Karlos Williams (who was phenomenal last season) has come in and already produced back to back 100 yard games off 20-30 carries, something Bernard never managed.
I just know that come post season time though Bernard will be back and our offence will go back to being one dimensional and over reliant on me. Early in the season I was throwing 35-40 passes per game through necessity whereas I can go games with under 25 passes and tire their defensive line out.

I'm proper shit at this game and it's doing my head in. Never played madden before so started on rookie to learn the ropes. After a while found rookie way too easy so put the difficulty up but now can't win a fucking game.
THERE'S NO MIDDLE GROUND FOR ME.

On the 4 yard line, choose a stick play. Receiver has spun around, arms up for the catch, with no one around him. Throw the pass and it goes through his hands, bounces off the cunts head and gets intercepted for a pick 6.

You'll adapt. Seems difficult now but with a bit of experience pro and rookie difficulties become just so easy.
That seems like a right fuckery, though, never had that particular brand of misfortune happen to me. Guesses would be, your quarterbacks accuracy is poor, your receiver's catching is poor and you floated the ball a bit too much. On sticks and hitches I throw it hard and use the right stick ever so slightly to throw it just under the receiver so he can box out any tacklers behind .

I did throw a bullet pass but I think you're right in that the receiver was just awful. Getting into the swing of things now, winning a lot more and when I do lose I can see the mistake I made rather than just being inexplicably shite.

Shit like that happens to me all the time, my receivers drop easy catches.
Went online on MUT like I do every year and I'm 4-5 which is pretty fucking good for me. Feel like I know what I'm doing a lot more than previously, although I can't get an interception to save my life, a few times I've been a linebacker in zone coverage, read where they're going to throw it and got right in front of the receiver, held triangle which is what I think you're supposed to do? And my player does nothing at all.

I had a bad habit of every throw being a bullet pass, I'm getting used to throwing softer passes and using the low throws with L2 if there is someone close to them. I actually didn't know about L2 and L1 being low and high throws for ages on this one I was using the sticks because I swear that's what it was on the old Maddens?

The majority of my throws are bullets passes but I generally do know when to use a softer pass I think and use it well. I don't use L1 or L2 at all really so do need to practise that more. What situations are best to use each one?

Usually if I have a player with a lot of height or great at jumping I'll use the high pass especially if it's down field.
The low pass I use a lot, it's mainly to prevent interceptions, like in your stick route if your receiver had a defensive player close to him use the low pass and it pretty much guarantees that only the receiver can catch it.
If there is anyone close to my receiver I'll usually use the low pass, curl routes, stick routes stuff like that is when I use it the most. I used to use curl routes a lot on old Madden games but on this one they kept getting intercepted that's when I realised they changed the way to throw a low pass.

What situations are best to use each one? I still do this on all madden tbh, situations where l1 and l2 are useful are very limited (high pass for goal line jump balls, low pass for slants in tight coverage) Much prefer using the right stick controls where you can lead passes away from coverage which has much the same effect

Madden '17 is free on EA Access now and I'm going through the semi-annual process of enduring BORT before I relocate to London and can him for a capable QB
Although I'm tempted to not do a Monarchs thing this time around cos the relocation teams don't get colour rush jerseys

When Melvin goes down injured in Week2 up steps 72 rated third year RB Wendell fucking Smallwood. Proper gutted though because Madden's AI coaching is fucking ridiculous. Comfortable in the 4th i stop passing and let Wendell run it and we have a few lost possessions so the 49ers have a 1 point lead with 4 minutes left. Not a problem because he's a machine and got first downs on pretty much every attempt and did so here, until with 20 seconds left we're 3rd and 3 on their 15, and I'm chewing clock to take a timeout with a second left. Except with 12 seconds left the game transitions to me being off the field and not knowing what happened. I'm assuming they went for it or just didn't take the field goal at all being Zuerlein made 4/4. So fucking dumb man.
