I imagine people could have the option of both town and Mafia, I agree that it could be a starting point to look at though.

I'm still new to this, but if Mafia Goon is a card itself, doesn't this mean they'd have to have Mafia Goon and A N Other Mafia card to be able to have that as a disposable choice? They'd be the ones I'd look at before the ones with discarded town cards if so. If understand you correctly (and I suppose the game as well), then not necessarily. There is no compulsion on which of the three cards you discard, and the two that remained could be literally anything. Two people could have almost identical card options, and make a parallel discard, so to speak, but still end up opposed depending on how they chose their role and alignment from the remaining two cards.

When in doubt, blame Stu. I'm interested in your role notpropaganda, anything you'd like to share? What do you wanna know? What makes you think you're too good to be the same colour as the rest of us? D:

Yeah but it'd mean two thirds of their options were mafia.
Doesn't mean they picked it but it surely it makes them more likely?

Oh wait never mind I thought it was role discards, not card discards.
Carry on!

Germany's Top Scorer you've completely lost me. But my thought was completely the opposite (if I understand it) people who have discarded Mafia cards are less likely to be Mafia surely?

I misunderstood (see: didn't read properly) it as roles rather than cards that were discarded.

What makes you think you're too good to be the same colour as the rest of us? D: I discarded that so I actually am the same colour as the rest of you. Or town people anyway

People who have discarded powerful non town roles definitely. I think it's plausible. But it's also plausible that you, as someone who does not fit that description, could be sowing that seed as mafia, knowing it will cast suspicion on non-mafia folk.
