And I'm no expert in trade deals (I once got mugged off by giving away a shiny Alakazam and a shiny Raichu for a Blastoise that was in shocking condition) but surely if the people you're negotiating with know that you're desperate, you'll struggle to get a deal agreed on favourable terms?

With BITs they're very much like that, BUT in fairness we aren't desperate by any stretch. The concern comes from the fact that we're aspirational by nature and while we can still throw our weight around with smaller/similar sized countries, the top 5 or so will all be able to dictate terms to us, and there's no rule in international law that these things have to be anywhere near "fair". Plus you have the fact that 4 of our 5 major trading partners are all EU members, and you have the issue with rejoining the Economic Community cropping up again anyway.
The irony is the issue of UK Sovereignty is probably the main issue Brexit has with the EU, but we and Denmark (fuck knows why them) have an opt out of almost any piece of EU legislation that comes our way as it is anyway. The only things we cannot veto are economic community related legislature, which would be the case even if we left and wanted to trade with the EC. I do wish Cameron or someone would mention how these things work in public, but apparently no one cares about the facts enough.

Just a bit more food for thought. Feel free to tear the post apart but it's just things that get you thinking. EU rules are forcing Britain to disclose top secret intelligence on terror suspects or allow them to walk into the UK unhindered. This revelation comes from Justice Minister Dominic Raab. Threatens our own national security. Thousands of criminals and fanatics are allowed to walk freely into the UK thanks to the EU's freedom of movement rules. linkCadburys moved factory to Poland with EU Grant in 2011; Ford Transit production to Turkey with EU Grant 2013; Jaguar agree to move to Slovakia with EU Grant ; Our army's new Ajax vehicles are to be built in Spain with Swedish steel with EU Grant; and there's more examples as to how the EU is destroying our industries. They want to make each province of the EU specialize in certain industries, so that we are completely reliant on each other and unable to function on our own. Hell these EU Grants don't come from EU money, they come from our own taxes given to the EU by Cameron and then it's used to undermine our country. Most EU countries are subsidised by us and will take all they can, including our industries. Many "Remainers" keep going on about flaws of the EU and its need for change. The Greens were on about it recently however how exactly can they expect change if we vote to stay. There will be no change, we are outvoted on everything. To stay means that we are locked into a destination of political, economic and monetary union that no one in this country wants. It will be even more difficult to extract ourselves at a later date.

Can't be arsed reading when you start with 'just a bit more food for thought' when you came into this thread in the first place admitting and showcasing your ignorance on key issues.

Well thankfully I wasn't looking for your opinion. Funnily enough I just asked those questions to see some opinions because I am still looking to see where counter arguments to what I posted could come from. Not trying to spark any debate or anything. Here to learn essentially.

It irritates me that criminals and fanatics only seem to belong to other EU countries or non-EU countries according to Brexiters. Freedom of movement is not a negative and it benefits both sides. But perhaps we should kill all newborns in case they become a bit evil after we shut the borders.
Again, I have no issue on the EU being reliant on one another. England is a developed nation with plenty of untapped land, if needs be plants and factories can be built. Saying that most EU countries are subsidised by us is absurd. We pay more in taxes because British people earn more than a lot of other EU countries, we're one of the most populated countries in Europe, despite our size.
You're saying no one wants to stay in the EU in this 'political, economic and monetary union' and it sounds more like a copy and paste job in this context because almost everyone in this thread bar you is voting to remain. Maybe we are outvoted on things by the other nations, it's not an anti-British policy like the Mail would probably have you believe (stop reading the fucking Mail if you want to actually learn anything in the referendum) but a Tory government unbound by EU red tape would lead to a much worse situation 'that no one in this country wants' than the EU could possibly muster.

Liverpool_96 you said we're outvoted on everything in the EU. The fact is that Britain votes with the majority on 9 out of 10 decisions in the EU parliament.

And how do we subsidise most of Europe when our net contribution is about a third of what Brexit is claiming?

the sun's backed leave.
we're going to actually fucking do this aren't we, we're going to leave not out of intelligence or logic but out of bigotry and fear, promoted by cunts like farage, johnson & murdoch who won't be affected no matter what happens to us. we've fucked it.

Proper beginning to resent the elderly and their bigoted hypocritical self entitled views over this whole thing. Last two days I've had family members bemoan the threat to their "right to a free bus pass" and people at work whinging about immigrants taking benefits even though we're surrounded by immigrants at work and all of this persons friends are unemployed by choice and live on benefits.
Pissed off the odds have come in massively too, only got on Leave to win at 6/5 when it was as much as 3/1 last week.

it's practically vulture-esque how leave hunts out old people who are misguided/already biased against migrants to swing it their way by using meaningless rhetoric and lies. they're going to be the decisive vote and they'll leave us with an economic crisis and a boris johnson leadership that they won't have to live through
it should be very, very worrying to people that that the leave campaign have no real economic strategy other than jingoisitc bollocks like "the UK will not be bullied", particularly when they use the swiss or norway as examples of countries working outside the eu - those countries didn't decide to leave out of some attempt to show that brittania rules the waves, the EU has no reason to cut us a good deal after we'll have shown we don't trust them

It's getting to the point now where I feel like some people are voting out because of unhappiness with the government, which isn't going to change by simply leaving the EU. We're still stuck with the Tories regardless.

It's going to be a landslide to leave. People are thick.

I was genuinely worried we'd vote out. Now I'm resigned to it. Unfortunately the morons are, as usual, shouting the loudest. (although I'm glad we don't have more Bob Geldofs tbh)

Looking forward to seeing this city go back to how it was 20 years ago anyway. At least we made it look nice first.
I don't even care about the rest of the country, it can fuck itself for all I care. I grew up in a time when Liverpool was still full of rundown buildings lined with moss and we've only just got out of that, we're actually a really nice looking city for the most part, regardless of some of the people in it. I don't want us to revert back to what we once were once the tories have free reign.
Tories have played this pretty well. I'd imagine a lot of people will vote Leave against the facade that the tories want to stay. Cameron and Osborne will be delighted at this.
