I was looking forward to Merc going back to silver initially but the return to black is welcome
Might just be a reveal livery and we’ll see more red, silver and teal dotted around it but it’s much closer to that 2020 livery in that there’s hardly anyway accenting on it at all

When that Merc gets to turn 1/2 with the purple lights trackside, it looks absolutely filthy. I thought they had some kind of purple pearlescent effect going on at first until I realised it was those lights

Honestly already not arsed about this season. Red Bull will be a second clear next weekend and Perez is still a cuck. Midfield may have swapped around a bit (Aston may be now best of the rest) but it all just feels a bit meh, and the fact we're potentially looking at races like Australia even having 4 DRS zones sort of sums it up for me.

Only two episodes in to drive to survive and it's just cementing my hatred of Horner/Red Bull.
They're just bad, classless winners.

The chicane being taken out of Catalunya is great news. That and Abu Dhabi have actually put work in over the last few years to make them better for racing and while I still don’t think it’s gonna make things as good as we want it to be it’s a step in the right direction I feel
Still got some absolute turgid shite on the calendar though and adding Vegas this year isn’t going to improve much. Qatar was a procession last time with a full minute between the top and bottom steps of the podium. Monaco isn’t even entertaining on Saturdays anymore

Yeah I think I've cemented my view that these new cars are shite.
I said last year when they were launched that I didn't like the designs at all and it felt a bit too Indy, but they look even worse this year. The rounded noses on the likes of the Merc are wank and the front wings look horrific. There's bits and pieces of certain cars which stand out - the Merc paint, the Ferrari engine cover, the Red Bull sidepod undercut, but by and large they look shite and haven't produced better racing, they've just made the DRS trains longer.
Maybe this season the cars will come together as the season goes on with restrictions on development but I feel like they're more spread out than ever before. I daresay the split between car and driver is now about 80/20.
Still, Aston look good and Alonso may get some wins this year. That's enough to keep me watching with at least half an eye.

Sky's coverage has come on leaps and bounds, the drivercam with team radio is an amazing addition.
But these new cars are utter, utter shite.
There's no point celebrating that they can follow closer if you have DRS zones 18 miles long, after the first lap there's barely a single actual overtake. It was bad last year but so far it feels even more pronounced.

Has anyone ever had more safety cars go his way than Verstappen? It feels like every time he needs one, he gets one
That’s not some conspiracy like I just think he’s dead lucky. That Latifi one in 2021 took the piss

It's not just that but it's questionable ones too. That Stroll one was never a safety car, he was off track and behind a barrier.
It's actually quite amusing how badly they've fucked these rules changes up because they intended to bring the field closer together after the Merc domination and actually you've literally now got an even bigger differential between teams than I think we ever had before. Look at how the cars are all grouped, it's like Noah's fucking ark.

Yeah I think this is early 2000s Ferrari level in terms of a gap between Red Bull and the rest. I don’t think, barring the W11, the Merc even had a car this dominant. Even this early in the season I think you’re already looking at this possibly ending up being a better car than the W11 which I think most would say is the best car ever. Only flaw it’s got is potential reliability issues and that’s something we won’t see until later on, probably

I didn't even twig until I saw someone else mention it but it's 'interesting' how far ahead Red Bull are the season after they're found to have broken the cost cap.
The assumption from the penalty they were given was that the reduced air-tunnel time would impact them when it comes to development later in the season but what's the point of that if they're used their breaking of the rules to build a rocket ship?
