yeah Pep is ridiculous, he hasn't just improved Man City, he's made them the greatest side for points and goals that the league has ever seen lol can hardly say anyone would do it with their finances, cos no one else did before him.

What do you want him to do? Sack off City and go to Fleetwood or something and give that a go? Ludicrous to use the “not won at a non-big club” argument. No other manager’s won as many trophies as he has in the time he has, and he’s made so many players so much better.
Everyone was pissing themselves saying he’d lost the plot when he had a bad first season and spent 90m on full backs and a goalkeeper, then all of a sudden City are the best team domestically possibly in the history of English football, at least points wise if nothing else. What a fraud

Oh and I don’t want to go all net spend or anything but he’s hardly the only one spending money at the moment. He’s taken City so much further forward than any other team has gone over the period he’s been here with the only competition in that regard being Klopp at Liverpool who have spent just as much if not more

Let’s not go back into pretending Pep joined an all-conquering Barcelona team. Without question he’s improved Bayern and Man City massively, saying he’s underachieved since Barcelona is a ridiculous statement imo. Joined Man City after they finished 3rd as well didn’t they? So there was a rebuild of sorts there too, so much deadwood in that squad when he arrived. Not like there’s a manager at the biggest teams in Europe that doesn’t spend money now either, and he also improves the players he has. i wouldn't say that he improved bayern drastically so much as the board just killed the competition, buying lewa and goetze (and he brought thiago over with him who was barca's most promising youngster). he did win two buli's but the board and fans hated him/tiki taka etc by the time he was done.

I think Guardiola is brilliant fwiw, just the above comment was so wrong.

Literally said I don’t want to get into net spend and the point was all big teams were spending a ton... Surprised Liverpool have spent that much less tbh, thought it was pretty even.

View is probably skewed by the outlay in the summer, he had a net spend profit up until the start of this season

He’s taken City so much further forward than any other team has gone over the period he’s been here with the only competition in that regard being Klopp at Liverpool who have spent just as much if not more Could give us a bit more credit for spending the money (still less than City) and actually putting a challenge up unlike United who have spent more and got as close as 20 points behind. Pep’s biggest contribution to football was putting Messi up front, completely turned La Liga on its head, conquered Europe but aside from winning the title as often as he has (almost monopolising Germany in the process) he still can’t get a team not spearheaded by Messi to win in Europe. As for taking a team further forward than anyone else, I don’t think you could’ve gotten City much further. Yes they broke 100 points but the trophy counts the same as when they won it in goal difference in 2012. In Europe, they’ve actually gone backwards. Meanwhile we’ve gone from Europa League and finishing 8th to a Champions League final and a title challenge (having, statistically, the second best season points per game in our history) in the same time frame.

Pep has undoubtedly improved City massively but saying he’s improved Bayern is a stretch, I don’t remember them being much better from when he took over. It’s just Juve seems a similar job to that Bayern one at the time, you don’t get much plaudits if you win the league, it’s a UCL or bust job.
With Man City he was building something and it looked like a long term project towards domestic and potentially European dominance. No one has even retained the prem since Utd won 3 on the spin from 07-09.

Which means nothing when it counts as much as Leicester winning it with 81

Which means nothing when it counts as much as Leicester winning it with 81 And you getting to cup finals counts the same as a 3rd round exit when you don’t win it. You can’t use progression under Klopp as a positive factor then just dismiss anything Pep has done in the same post. Klopp has won fuck all at Liverpool, it’s irrelevant how many finals he gets to. Pep has smashed record after record with City and won trophies. There’s no comparing the 2 lol

Still think there’s a comparison to be made though until one of them does something that the manager before them hadn’t.
