Not sure whether to make this a thing where, if you can be arsed even, you can name your best 11 from this decade or if we try to reach some sort of consensus and decide on an 11 as a whole. So what I’ll do is I’ll give my best 11 and if anyone wants to do theirs, I’ll sort of tally up who is naming who and come to a consensus by the end of it.
For myself, I’m going to do two; one for the Premier League and one without any Premier League players. I was going to do a combined XI featuring Premier League and others but decided against it for whatever reason. So with that being said, here is my Team of the Decade 2010.
Pablo Zabaleta (Argentina/Man City/West Ham)
Vincent Kompany (Belgium/Man City)
Virgil Van Dijk (Netherlands/Southampton/Liverpool)
Cesar Azpilicueta (Spain/Chelsea)
Yaya Toure (Ivory Coast/Man City)
David Silva (Spain/Man City)
Kevin de Bruyne (Belgium/Chelsea/Man City)
Mohamed Salah (Egypt/Chelsea/Liverpool)
Sergio Aguero (Argentina/Man City)
Eden Hazard (Belgium/Chelsea)
Europe
Manuel Neuer (Germany/Schalke/Bayern Munich)
Dani Alves (Brazil/Barcelona/Juventus/PSG)
Sergio Ramos (Spain/Real Madrid)
Gerard Pique (Spain/Barcelona)
Jordi Alba (Spain/Valencia/Barcelona)
Sergio Busquets (Spain/Barcelona)
Toni Kroos (Germany/Bayern Munich/Real Madrid)
Luka Modric (Croatia/Real Madrid)
Lionel Messi (Argentina/Barcelona)
Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal/Real Madrid/Juventus)
Robert Lewandowski (Poland/Borussia Dortmund/Bayern Munich)
Obviously a bit of overlap where Modric is concerned and with Premier League players who’ve moved abroad since and I feel like there’s a few glaring omissions there but that’s about the best I can think of after having thought about it for a bit.
