Decided to leave the season off because let’s face it, it’ll be 2024 and we’ll still be posting in the 2020/21 FA Cup thread.
Villa basically fielding their youth team vs Liverpool tonight, and sounds like a decent minority of the games are headed similar ways. Seeing nowhere near enough criticism of the FA for how they’ve handled this season, they’ve backed themselves into a corner where teams are being forced to play youth teams tonight.

What could they have done differently? They’re already facing a smaller season with less time to get all of the games in. If they start postponing FA Cup matches then fuck knows how you fit all of the games in, especially once the european games start up again.

At a minimum, cancel the league cup so you can start the FA Cup earlier. This would also probably allow a 2 week break after Boxing Day because it was very likely infections would always rise around this time. They’re exactly the same as the government, just constantly reacting to the situation rather than planning ahead. Now some of these cup ties are just a joke, they’ve just tried to cram an entire season into an already smaller block of time while there’s also a pandemic going on, it’s crazy to me that they haven’t planned better for this.

but by doing that you'd be cutting off money to lower league sides that need a game on TV against a side from the Prem for money. they struggled enough with no fans as it is, cant cut off another revenue stream for them

Well that goes into the bigger issue of English football as a whole should be doing more to support the teams further down the pyramid. Plus the vast majority of these teams go years without a glamour cup tie but still survive? So I’m not sure the league cup going is such a death sentence, particularly for one season and assuming the losses should be subsidised.

If Sadio and Mo don’t score tonight they should give up.

And people wanted Rhys Williams to start against Danny Ings.

That Louie Barry interview was brilliant. I was smiling as much as him watching it.

Willian is genuinely awful, to the point I'm convinced he's doing it on purpose now.

Fairly even game until the subs happened. We’re bringing Jacob Murphy on and they’re bringing Saka on, it’s hardly fair

Felt we were on top for most of the game but just couldn't break down a very good defensive team, yet Newcastle had the better chances.
Willian, honestly, I don't think I've seen a performance that bad in years. The worst thing is he just doesn't seem to care either. At least with Pepe, you could tell he was trying to pull things off, and when they didn't work he would chase back or show frustration. Thought he was one of our better players in that at least he looked like doing something - I'm trying to think who I can compare him to and I'm coming up with Tarrabt, immensely skillful and occasionally does the amazing but just can't do it consistently.
Lacazette is so good at the moment, his link-up play is exactly what we need.

I'm sure some of you would have seen James Justin's goal for Leicester today.
Ricardo Pereira has been injured long term and Justin has since established himself as Leicester's first choice right back.
He's a local Luton boy from my neck of the woods. His brother was in my year at school and was actually a member on Neo but never made the move over to SNC.
