Proper tournament starts now at least, I’ll not get on their backs too much both sides played that second half like a friendly. Think Grealish might be better suited to a sub role in the R16, thought we looked better in midfield without Rice, Saka needs to start surely. I agree with whoever said moves break down too often when they reach Sterling but noone else makes the runs he does. Shaw worries me as well I always think he looks half a yard off the pace. However if we win our next game the draw starts to really open up, particularly if Spain don’t win their group.
Pickford, Walker, Stones, Maguire, Shaw, Phillips, Henderson, Saka, Mount, Sterling, Kane for me. Grealish in if Mount can’t play.

Maybe I'm just drowning in bias but is it not mental that there's some out there that don't rate Jordan Henderson given the way he's performed these last few years.
Twitter at it's very worst tonight.

Considering his main opposition for England is Rice and Phillips I don't see why people wouldn't have him as a guaranteed starter.

Because people have it in their heads that he doesn't do anything.
Those same people will rave about Rice.

the thing is though I really rate both Rice and Phillips but the way some people are going on the second coming of Ali Dia was coming on at half time.
Michael Carrick got the same thing for years but he eventually managed to get rid of the tag such to the point he became overrated towards the end of his career. Doesn't seem to be happening with Henderson.

I saw someone sarcastically refer to him as ‘the ever progressive Jordan Henderson’.
Like yes, he’s been statistically one of most progressive passers in Europe in the last 2-3 years. Even tonight I thought he took up some excellent positions to receive the ball and just got ignored while his first proper action was spinning on 30 yards down the line for Saka to run onto.
He’s one of those. Liverpool fans will say he’s underrated by everyone else, everyone else will say he’s overrated by Liverpool fans. I personally think he’s one of the 3 best midfielders I’ve seen play live for us and I’ve seen some brilliant players there over the last 27 years.

Don't get the Sancho thing at all but I also don't want it to become the big thing held up as a criticism. Peak England to focus on a negative (it was Grealish first) but let's just look at the positives Seriously, what positives?

Two wins, none conceded, fairly solid at the back with clear signs that our bench players can make an impact and we're back at Wembley next week.

If Sweden win tonight the draw on England’s side starts to look very open just as long as we can get past whoever we play in the first knockout game. Most likely Germany, then Sweden/Ukraine, then Netherlands/Czech Republic/Wales/Denmark. We’ll never make it easy but at least you’d rather be on this side than the other.

the games have been shit to watch, but Neville was right last night after the game when he said any other side going through, none conceded, top of the group.. you'd all be saying they were playing well and putting themselves in a very good position to win the tournament lol
I want to see us play a lot better attacking football, but I wont be complaining if we keep getting results whilst the games are shit. Last night was hard to watch in the 2nd half, but winning games is all that really matters in a tournament, so its definitely not all been negatives.
Just keep playing Grealish cos no one else constantly takes on defenders and gets crosses into the box.

One of my biggest worries considering how important they were last time is how poor our set pieces have been. I mentioned it last night but our corners from both sides were outswinging and terrible and most freekicks didn't beat the first man. It seems minor but if we're not creative in open play we need to make sure set pieces are good. We did hit the post against Scotland but other than that I don't think we've won a header in a dangerous position.

I mean I’m not saying that’s great but 1-0 up from the 12th minute against a side who aren’t that interested in going forward or putting you under pressure? I’m not wholly surprised nor do I think it really means much, it says a lot about how our games have played out more than anything imo
