Discuss the Scots possibly following Republic of Ireland's lead in getting royally fucked over the EU here.
In all seriousness though when I left Glasgow in May most people I spoke to thought it was a ridiculous idea but it's seemed to have gained a bit of momentum. I'd be hugely surprised if there was a Yes outcome though.
Also William Wallace freedom Rabbie Burns etc etc

Have genuinely laughed in the face of several people who have told me they'll be voting Yes. Utterly mental and not even remotely sustainable imo. Plus Alex Salmond and Nicola Sturgeon are a pair of media whoring cunts.

I just don't see any realistic situation where the support for independence gets over 40%. The independents are louder these days but there aren't any more of them...that's just part of the media cycle.

Why should Alex Salmond and Nicola Sturgeon's personality have ANY bearing on a vote on a countries independence?

I knew you'd respond to that.
You're a fan of independence and I'm not, we're not going to change each other's minds so I really can't be bothered debating the merits and downfalls of Scottish independence with you. But if you still feel like educating me on why it's such a fantastic idea then go ahead.
As for that pair of fuds, they're the figureheads of the Yes campaign and I have an immense disliking of them, seemed as good a time as any to share my feelings on them.

Fan was the right word, ooter is just the sole fighter for independence so has to find a fault with anything someone may say on the matter.

In the past I've been pro-independence but I'm open-minded on the subject now. I just get irritated when people say "its shit we'll be worse off" etc. without any evidence to back it up. If there's any substance to your comment I'd like to know so I can be better informed. That's why I always ask more questions than make comments on this subject. The personalities of Alex Salmond or anyone else in the SNP is irrelevant. Infact they are more likely to be out of power after a Yes vote as we will have a general election to elect our own government, not one chosen by people in a different country who (quite reasonably) have different priorities. The SNP are very unlikely to win such an election. jambo, do you think your life will be any worse if we become independent? Do you know that the UK qualifies for 240million Euros of EU funding for farmers because of the circumstances Scottish farmers have to work with? Do you also know that they have purposely decided to pass on 0 euros of this to Scotland against the expressed wishes of the EU itself. Do you also know that the Westminister government is cutting spending in Scotland by 9.9% (£3.9billion) and plans on cutting a further £4billion after a "No" vote? All I've heard about the negatives of independence is we won't get to see Doctor Who or Strictly Come Dancing (which they quickly then aid we would) or we would need passports to go to England (which we wont).

Would you need to build embassies etc. in foreign countries if you're independent? Was wondering about foreign policy etc. the other day and I wasn't sure what would happen in regards to if if you got independence.

We already have some embassies around the world. It was suggested that we would have around 100 which is on a par with countries like Norway and Ireland. The UK has 270.

Don't know atm to be honest. Voting No means living half my life under a tory government so there's that.
