I reckon he'll be one of those Defoe/Bent type strikers, will score consistently for a lower team but is found out (to an extent) when moving up to a bigger side, and never quite fully trusted as a starter. This is what I see Charlie Austin being should he be brought by a Prem club in January, know he's a had a few such as West Ham, Newcastle and Norwich interested before.

definitely agree re-rhodes. Can see him going to somewhere like palace or west ham and doing pretty well, then a slightly bigger club like an everton, liverpool, even spurs taking a punt on him and him just not being consistently good enough at that level.
Having said that seems a decent hand, would probably do decent enough at a certain level of club as Bollo said.

Rhodes is 'aiiite. He's a consistent goalscorer, don't reckon much of him as a player though. Whether his goals would translate into a team who gets less chances in a tougher league is hard to say.
Someone like West Ham should probably take a gamble on him but it's not a cheap gamble at probably 8m-ish minimum.
Don't think he's as good as someone like Steven Fletcher.
Suppose someone like Rickie Lambert has proven if you're big and strong and have an eye for goal you can still do it in the PL though.

There's a point to which £8m is a lot more than a gamble especially when it's going to be someone in the bottom half of the table who aren't guarenteed safety. Not worth touching in my opinion, that's coming from a fan of a side that are crying out for a goalscorer. I'd rather take the gamble on a foreign striker who's going to cost you a quarter of that.

Rhodes will get found out as soon as he gets into the Prem. He might not do badly but he won't do well enough for a bigger club to have a silly punt like Liverpool did with Carroll.

The only teams Rhodes would do decent at in the PL is Hull and Palace, although I don't feel he's ready to be a regular PL starter yet.

I'm going against the grain here I realise, but I reckon he's a far better goalscorer than Ings, who seems to be getting a lot of plaudits recently, but as I said somewhere here before, I think he's a lot more dependant on the support he gets from Sam Vokes, whereas Rhodes makes a lot of chances for himself. Maybe not Premiership ready yet, but I think he's more ready than a lot of other players who score a fair amount in the Championship.

I find it impossible to judge Championship strikers. It doesn't matter what kind of player they are there's been a load before them who have made the step up and failed and another load who have done well. It feels like a total lottery tbh.

There was a time that it seemed certain Michael Chopra would be a top striker based on his Championship form. Ha.

Leon Best looked out of his depth in the Championship for us, yet looked more than competent in the Premier League.
