To be fair he did go to United to win trophies and now they're not going to. Somewhat logical.

RVP: Trophy Repellent
I do think that it is interesting that twice now he was won a trophy in his first season with a club and not all afterwards before asking to move to win more trophies.

I'm certain Mark 'my Uncle Ben' Lawrenson knows less than me, so I ain't believing a word of his shite. Would be good fun if RVP did leave tho.

If RVP leaves, with Rooney to presumably follow in the summer, I can't see where United are gonna pick back up again. It'll be like our 2009 exodus when we lost several key players.

Wouldn't blame RVP for leaving, he left Arsenal to win trophies not to sit in mid table.

Every time I watch Rooney this season I'm gutted we didn't sign him in the summer. Hoping we go in for him again next year

Wouldn't blame RVP for leaving, he left Arsenal to win trophies not to sit in mid table. It would speak very poorly of him character-wise if he asked to leave United at the first sniff of crisis. And United are suddenly not out of contention to win all trophies in the foreseeable future just because they've had a bad start to the league season. In other news, we're apparently linked with Sneijder again. Not sure if he's a solution at all but he is much better than what we have at the minute, so I'd go for it. Not the player that he was but he still has certain qualities that are clearly lacking from midfield at the minute, quality from set-pieces, reliable goalscorer and a vision that is lacking from the likes of Cleverley. Would also love to sign Song if he's prepared to move. Linked with Ribeiro and Herrera again too, don't really know much about Ribeiro at all and from seeing some of Herrera against Barca, he'd be good too. It's just one of those times were we have to spend in January. The money is there.

It's just one of those times were we have to spend in January. The money is there. Its not like RVP is getting any younger though is it? He's 30 now so he wants to be winning trophies and although United aren't out of contention to win trophies, things are looking pretty bleak. I cant remember the last time we were approaching the festive season with United down so low in the league. I cant see us winning the league this season or getting in the top 3, think 4th is the best we can get at the moment. We've done well in the Champions League but we haven't really had a massive test yet, as soon as we draw a big team then I think we'll get thrashed. Yes it would be very poor of him to leave at the first sign of trouble but Arsenal were the team that brought him through and stuck by him through the injuries, etc and as soon as he had a good injury free season he was off so if thats the loyalty he showed Arsenal, I can see him showing us even less. I'd say Sneijder is definitely not the answer to our problems, he plays in the no 10/ Rooney/Kagawa role so he wouldn't be an improvement. Song is a good shout if he is prepared to move, not sure whether he's getting much game time at Barca so that would be a factor. Not sure on Herrera I'm fairly sure I've seen an article with him saying he's very happy at Bilbao and that he wouldn't join United after the debacle in the summer, could be wrong though so don't quote me on it.

He should at least wait until the end of the season before stirring drama, if it's even true.

Don't expect much class from Van Persie.

I believe Sneijder could play deeper though, he played there earlier in his career and he's always been more of a midfielder, not like Kagawa who is more like a forward.
Honestly, what he offers in general football intelligence and technique is way ahead of the likes of Cleverley, so I wouldn't rule him out. We need to move away from such a rigid style and Sneijder could fit in a lot of places in midfield.
As for Van Persie, we're still in all competitions entered and have a good chance of making the last 4 of the League Cup. Winning a Premier League last year and a nice £200,000 a week pay cheque should be enough to ease his pain.

I hope Utd do get Sneijder. Not only is he well past his best but apparently he and van Persie have "a relationship of mutual loathing."

To be fair I feel as though a lot of people have a relationship of mutual loathing with RVP...
