I don't think Falcao ever wanted to go to Monaco, it was a backwards move for him. Nice money of course but he wouldn't have been short for cash. I'd say it was his agents doing.

Lmao at that 'where they'd be without Lukaku's goals' stat. Yeah because without Lukaku they would play 10 men and not have a striker ffs.
Also they were apparently after Ba before agreeing the Lukaku deal. They were in for a striker on deadline day and if it wasn't Lukaku they'd have gotten someone else.

@mikecfc All Lukaku does is put the ball in the net. Of course it's a quality that many players lack and can be hard to come by for some clubs, but it's not as if all the chances Lukaku scored from wouldn't have been converted by someone else. I always got the impression that Jelavic was a confidence player, maybe a solid run in the team would have made him replicate his form in his first season. Kone was hardly shite for Wigan either. You can easily argue that Lukaku is a better finisher than both of them and Everton are better off with him, but to argue that Everton would be 9th or 10th without him is ridiculous.
Not that I'm trying to play down Lukaku's ability, because he can hold the ball up really well and bring others into play, but his decision making can be very poor and I can't think of any goals he's scored this season that has made me go "wow, holy shit!" like efforts from many other Premier League strikers have done. It's obvious he's still developing so Lukaku is anything but a finished product, and nowhere near as good as you think he is.

You are the most stupidly biased member I have ever seen on here and it's really fucking annoying. What did I say in any of those posts that were remotely biased? Fuck off. He thoroughly demonstrated why your notion that Everton are where they are because of Lukaku is wrong (TOTALLY no bias there at all) and you just responded with a variant of "nah it's because Lukaku's awesome m8".

tbf there aren't many players of Lukaku's quality that Everton would have got on short notice on deadline day, had that offer fallen through and he went back to West Brom.
They'd have scored a few goals this season, but there are certain goals that he's scored where not many others would have got on the end of it.

How do know how good I think Lukaku is? I've only gone on record saying I think he's better than Torres and Eto'o. I'm fully aware of his strengths and weaknesses. Given the fact that you put him as your avatar, big him up at every given opportunity. I'd hazard a guess that you rate him very very highly, much higher than you should rate him tbh.

I have Lambert as my avatar, doesn't mean I think he's better than Messi.
Even though he is.

@mikecfc That's fair enough, but it's just such ridiculous logic that it's not worth bringing up. As others have alluded to, stats like those just simply represent what would happen if Lukaku just vanished into thin air just before he scored each of his goals. Remove Lukaku from Everton's games this season and each one is completely different. It's just guesswork - for all we know Everton might be in 20th without Lukaku, as unlikely as it is, but at the same time, maybe the rest of the team suddenly started scoring loads of goals and they'd be in 1st, scoring all the chances Lukaku has missed.
People use the same logic when their team is 2-1 down, get an equaliser disallowed unfairly, and suddenly the referee cost them a point even though there was another 20 minutes to play anyway. You can never say "if X happened, then Y would have happened." It's just stupid. Circumstances change.

Lukaku is a 20 year old striker who could be the future of Chelsea, yet they keep on loaning him out to clubs in the same division despite having past it players left at the club.
He's obviously going to talk about it when Chelsea strikers are struggling to score this season and Lukaku seems to score every week for someone else.

This is actually correct. I remember reading an article about this very transfer move. Here it is as a reddit, but I'm sure that's not where I saw it. It basically explains that because of third-party ownership, other clubs weren't able to afford him. So when a number of teams like Chelsea, PSG, Real Madrid etc. were rumoured to be interested, Monaco was really the only legitimate option. "He has little to no say in his final destination because of a deal he agreed to years ago while he was still in South America". It's worth reading that if you've got a sec. Very interesting.
