I picked based on who I have knowledge of and I presume Mike did the same. I have no problem with that for once, and didn't say a word against it. He picked out MY pick as being "the most ridiculous of the lot" clearly as a personal slight, and I brushed it off. No need for people to stick up for him, he gives as good as he gets.

Having Lukaku as one of the 15 best players in 2013 IN THE WORLD is a decision that deserves stick Edit; to be fair I've not put my list up but I hate doing this stuff anyway, always know I'll miss someone out. This is true you could prob do a list for the 15 best players in England (for 2013) only and Lukaku would probably fail to get in most peoples lists of that an all, fuck if you was to do strikers in England alone then he still ain't top 5 Shocked how many people have Bale so low. I've given this a 1 minute rethink and Bale goes to the top of my list, infact he's the top 15 on his own

Chelsea do not a have a single 'world class' player. not one. not hazard, not mata. not one.
plus they had a shite 2013 as well. this is not just having a go at mike because it's wasted effort - but no Chelsea player should even be in the conversation for 2013. tbf lukaku has had the best year of any Chelsea contracted player, maybe courtouis actually, but nah he certainly isn't top 15.

Juan Mata is world class, Hazard can be.

I'd also be surprised if anyone denied that Gary Cahill was at least of the verge of becoming world class, he's a regular for Chelsea and England.

I guess it depends what we define as world class but surely if you're getting a game regularly for Chelsea who have recently won the Champions League and the Premier League but also England then you're at least close to being world class.

A world class player is a player who is one of the best in the world in their position. Gary Cahill is not this.

Well I disagree, I certainly think he's top 10 centre backs in the world or are we saying maybe only the top 4 are world class?

Playing for England and Chelsea does not equal world-class. There aren't many world-class centre-backs and Gary Cahill isn't near the top 5.
Varane is very overrated here. He has great potential but he's not the best centre-back in the world yet. I understand that people have mainly just watched El Clasico's where he was outstanding but
Calling Varane the 7th best in the world is madness, he's not even a regular starter and has played 19 league games for Real Madrid. I've seen him have a few poor games in those too.

Cahill isn't world class.
Chelsea have plenty of world class players though, granted some of them are old now.
Cech, Cole, Oscar, Hazard, Mata are world class players. They'd get into 60% of the best 20 clubs in the world, which is my rough guide to being world class.
Few others are borderline and the likes of Lampard, Eto'o and Torres have certainly been world class at points in their careers.

Off the top of my head, centre backs I'd call better than Cahill: Silva, Kompany, Ramos, Benatia, Hummels, Chiellini, Dante, Marquinhos, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Vertonghen.

Cole can't get a game for us now though because of the strength of our squad and yet Cahill plays every week so how is he world class and Cahill isn't?
