By last I mean last French - reckon he'll make Wimbledon and then unless he wins, skip the US. May fancy one more swansong but I can't see it.

I think he retires before the end of this year. 22 grand slams, presumably then finishes ahead of Federer all-time with Djokovic likely to then overtake him probably before the end of 2023
He’s my favourite player ever, he’s the only reason I’ve ever owned three quarter shorts. To think of the career he could’ve had without all the injuries it’s actually amazing looking at his CV

Think it’s reached a tipping point where there are too many good young players for Djokovic to pass him in terms of Slams. Catching would even be a tall order imo. Novak’s dropping a ton of ranking points for Wimbledon and has already lost a fair chunk through this year so his draw is probably going to be tougher in Slams for a little while too and all the while his physical abilities will inevitably wane.

I think Novak can probably get to 23/24 - he's got at least two more years, and I don't think the new guard are consistent enough yet to trouble him.

US Open final he got mullered by Medvedev (he looked tired). Gets outlasted physically by a hobbled Nadal at the French (he looked tired again). I remember watching against Alcaraz in Madrid a few weeks ago and he was noticeably the slower and less physical player.
Not saying it’s impossible for him to do it but imo there is a definite trend and Father Time is undefeated.

We said the same about father time several years ago though 😂
I just think he's so good in Australia and Wimbledon that with a good prep behind him he'll easily get a few more - and that's more likely now given the covid relaxation.
Medvedev, Zverev, Tsitsipas, Ruud, Alcaraz will all be there or there abouts and I think Federer and Murray are spent. But either way I'm glad that it's far less of a sure thing that Novak would end with the most slams than it looked 18 months ago

There's always a few who do well at Wimbledon as a result.
I respect the skill and repetition of it but yeah, it's shit to watch.
Alcarez btw - future world number 1

Nadal vs Kyrgios should be class on Friday They proper hated each other a while back. Bit more respect between them both now but the speed Kyrgios plays combined with how slow Nadal is - there's gonna be fireworks

With Federer and Vettel retiring this year it’s like I’m coming to the end of my first cycle in sports where I’ve watched a generation of dominant athletes come through and end their careers. Mad to think how blessed we’ve been with Nadal who’s next in tennis presumably, Hamilton, Ronaldo, Messi, LeBron all coming towards the end of their careers all with a decent shout of being their sport’s GOAT, especially seeing how most of them have already got their usurpers coming up as well
