Sunderland have been fantastic, just passing and passing beautifully. Great pen from Borini, well deserved lead.

There arent too many managers who would do much better than 5th with us Our squad is overrated and imbalanced, we spent all summer trying to perfect a near perfect squad. Probably all of our players fit in the category of good but not great, in a squad of 25 we've gone for 25 good solid players, last year even having the one world class player we were 5th. Vertonghens maybe a great player and Erikson could prove to be a match winner in a few years (prob not for us though), Sandro is excellent but will miss 15 games a year injured, Lloris is a top goalie, world class on his day no doubt but whens he had his day lately? Ade is excellent 5 times a season and the rest are good solid but unspectacular players, we have all these midfielders and they're all so functional, Holtby is a bit different in that he never looked forced into a hole and he'll prob never play for us again, instead we have functional static midfield players like Sigurdsson and Dembele for all his class has been functionalised particularly this season this. so much this re siggy, reckon we should get rid of him in the summer, hes not good enough and hes never ever a left winger, frustrates me seeing him out wide because he offers fuck all, doesnt fit into our system and will never do, such a waste cant see tim staying in the summer, we will wait for the inveitable world cup sackings and choose whoever has the best name, they will fail after a year and we will be back to square one again, we desperately need stability but i personally dont think tim is good enough (yet)

I have just a small hunch that we might be missing Cabaye.

I thought Debuchy was supposed to be good?

I really like this Alonso for Sunderland, Borini is giving Debuchy nightmares.

He's been abysmal today, but to be honest, you could say that about half our team out there. We've got noone out there to orchestrate in the way that Cabaye did. So what we're left with is a few good individuals out on the pitch, but without any solid way to take advantage of their strengths.

Deep cross from McCartney, header down by Carroll, Nolan smashes it in for the first!
Corner by Downing, kept in by Carroll, Nolan heads in 2-0!

I love Fabio Borini.

He's not gonna displace Sturridge or Suarez (providing he stays) but i'd love to see him get some kind of a chance. Rodgers is a big fan too.

Such a big fan he loaned him out and signed Aspas. Mourinho can't be a fan of half your squad.

Borini came back from a serious injury and Rodgers wanted him to get game time. It's looking like an inspired decision, Borini's confidence looks sky high
