I didn't think the first was great, and there seems to be a lot of made up shit in this one, so can't say i'm going in with high expectations, AndyEFC. Can't resist a trip back to middle earth regardless though, and as you say, Martin Freeman is a cracking Bilbo. I think you'll come out a bit happier than you were after the first one then, much better. The first one started very slowly, this, not so much.

Saw Don Jon last night. Pretty good film although I wouldn't describe it as a romantic comedy at all. JGL was fantastic in it and although Scarlett Johansson is annoying in it fuck me she is incredible.
7/10

Thought Scarlett was perfect casting - you're instantly enamored with her because she's just incredible but then the allure of her insane body goes and you just realise she's kind of a terrible person. Also like how they played down Julianne Moore's hotness to kind further put that point across
Massively, massively impressive first film for JGL

I was really looking forward to seeing Don Jon after I saw trailer after trailer every time I went to the cinema, then when it was eventually released my local cinema had it on for 4 days, one showing per day, before scrapping it. Gutted.

Love the little bits of comedy in inglorious basterds I do. Great concept as well.

I can't decide whether I liked it or not yet.
There's nowhere near as much quotable lines as the first though.

My war film virginity was finally taken tonight.
Watched Full Metal Jacket. Was good. First half of the film is fantastic. 2nd half, meh, I'll have to watch a few more war films I reckon before I can accurately say whether those bits were good/average/bad.

Jarhead's good too. Square It is fucking amazing. If you liked it check out Seven Pyschopaths, same director, writer and Colin Farrell. Not quite as good imo but still hilarious.

Have you seen The Guard? It's another McDonagh film, Brendan Gleeson and Don Cheadle as an Irish policeman and FBI agent haha Just back from seeing Anchorman 2. As expected, not amazing but had it's moments. The cameos at the end were ridiculous hahaha

Loved The Guard, possibly even darker than In Bruges.
Saw The Desolation of Smaug last night. I enjoyed it, unlike the first one it's straight into the action and it doesn't really let up and ends on a decent point to end it on. The amount of stuff they've made up though is quite staggering, but I am enjoying the links they're creating to the LOTR trilogy - it makes sense for them to do it too, particularly for casual viewers who haven't read any of the books.

Finally watched Jackie Brown this morning. Was a lot, lot better than I was expecting based on reviews. It's not quite Pulp Fiction but it's still a hell of an entertaining watch.
