Watched Blood Diamond last night, Di Caprio's Seth Efrican accent in it is brilliant. Film wasn't bad either.

Saw both Catching Fire and The Desolation Of Smaug yesterday, and was impressed by both. Not a bad thing to pay little notice to the time while watching for a collective five hours or so. There aren't really any outright spoilers below, but caution as it's not without some mentions of 'stuff'.
I saw the original Hunger Games movie without having read the books, but I have since read the full trilogy and re-watched the film. And that first film did weaken having now read the source material, with omissions and changes not standing up as well as the way it was portrayed in the text. I'm not as fresh on the book for Catching Fire but overall, the film did seem both a more accurate portrayal of the book, and an overall better film to boot. Only a couple of the most minor gripes, with one particular scene (the skills demonstrations) losing a little bit of impact, although it wasn't crucial to the plot. The mockingjay dress bit was done fantastically well, although to be fair, Ms. Lawrence was a lovely bit of eye candy throughout.
As for The Hobbit, it was very entertaining. Especially so as it's so long since I read the book, that I basically can't remember anything that happens. A good range of emotions in there, with some enjoyable and entertaining, if a little unbalanced, combat. What really stole the show for me was Smaug. A fantastic portrayal in all parts, from the design, to the animation, and the voice acting was superb as well. The way they've split it at the end for part three didn't really work at all for me. As for Legolas, his inclusion didn't feel too forced, and I felt both he and Tauriel added to the plot well. I reckon I probably have more to say, but I can't think of it right now.

Lawrence is so hot. This was also a better movie than the first one, just seemed to stick to a more conventional style (less flashbacks for a start) and they had some experience with how to approach the film. Like you said Memento Mori, only some minor gripes and some scenes didn't translate as well but that's always difficult in book -> movie adaptions because you picture every scene vividly and whatnot. Though I felt that the death of cynna hit me way more in the movie than in the book And Finnick was a bit odd looking. I pictured him being less cheesy and more...irresistible/suave/charming. Though maybe the book describes him like that, haven't read them in a while. Still a good movie imo and I enjoyed it more than the first despite preferring the first book. I actually think MockingJay could be a good movie despite being a pretty poor book as well. --- The Life of Walter Mitty looks like the most interesting Stiller movie in ages going from the 1 minute trailer I watched, and American Hustle looks class while also getting great reviews (plus more Lawrence yay).

Watched Insidious a couple of weeks ago, didn't think it was anything special.
Far too predictable ending as well.

My list of films to watch in the next month is too long:
Desolation of Smaug American Hustle All is Lost 12 Years A Slave Wolf of Wall Street August: Osage County Inside Llewyn Davis Leviathan Nashville
Screeners need to hurry up.
Also, saw Before Midnight today and it's as amazing as i expected. Completes one of my favourite trilogies perfectly.

mockingalvinSaw The Desolation of Smaug on Sunday, absolutely superb. Prefer the Hobbit to the LOTR Trilogy just purely because the Hobbit has a bit of fun involved. There are moments in the film where it doesn't take itself incredibly seriously and lightens the mood for the audience. Martin Freeman is yet again superb. For those who have seen it, anybody else agree a particular dwarf is basically Robotnik from the Sonic games?.

BUT you can also stream it on the webpage too, and pretty damn good quality. example;

I didn't think the first was great, and there seems to be a lot of made up shit in this one, so can't say i'm going in with high expectations, AndyEFC. Can't resist a trip back to middle earth regardless though, and as you say, Martin Freeman is a cracking Bilbo.
