Exactly right Liam but who's head will roll (see my post in the PL thread either yesterday or the day before), these players the fans are meant to justify spending £100+ a week physically supporting can fucking hide for a week until it happens again, Sherwood is the one who has to put up with gip from the media, our fans and the common idiot trying to look in
I never rated Sherwood when he was clogging up our midfield so theres nothing romantic about me sticking up for him, I just want what and who cares and works for this club (this isn't based on tonight either I've wanted to say this for ages), but I feel sorry for Tim because he's been made to look simple by the simpletons he's relying on
People are bitching about 'ah Spurs fans are negative' rehrehfuckingreh, watch your teams have a squad with about 10/15 players that cost about £15m each and not be objective I fucking dare ya pissssss arffff

Personally think we need a season or two like Liverpool had. Take it patient and don't change things. Probably got to go backwards to go forwards now, we've been at a stand still for 4 years. Soon as we've looked like doing something, we've always been a player or two short to kick on further. We've lacked a goalscorer, or a top midfielder, or a left back and a centre back. We're yet to have a team which is 11 quality players, we've always had holes.
At least we're not going to lose a a player of Modric/Bale's ability for the first time in a few years this summer. Said it a few weeks back, our season is as good as over domestically, now it's the same for Europe. Can't say I'm disappointed, the limbo of still having something to fight for then failing was frustrating as fuck.

whilst i appreciate and admire your optimism jm i can't help but feel it's misguided
there's no signs that this will get better, yes we can say wait until summer but that's still three more months of disaster to come

We're always gonna be a seller aswell (more reason for the fan to question the money they spend aswell), which Spurs fan here expects our 3 players who have both a) resale value and b) genuine class (Lloris, Vertonghen and Eriksen) to be here past next or even this summer?
And your neutral fan who says 'oh but ur 5th so your kushty' can come @ me aswell cos this is an overchievement (and testimony to a poor divisoon overall) about a squad that cost probably about £250m ffs. As if fans of ANY other club would soak that up and be fucking jolly with it

whilst i appreciate and admire your optimism jm i can't help but feel it's misguided there's no signs that this will get better, yes we can say wait until summer but that's still three more months of disaster to come Tbf, we have some very good young players who will only get better. Worst case scenario this summer is we lose Jan and possibly Hugo. Although I can only see one leaving and that'd be Jan. We have the nucleus of a good team, but it's one without leadership. We used to have VDV able to dig us out, or Modric to do something big, with King playing making Dawson look a lot better than he is (an actual CB partnership, what is that?). Last season we had Bale to just throw one in the top corner from 35 yards when he felt like it. This season we don't have that. We have some good players, but no truly great ones. The fact we could still theoretically finish with last seasons points tally (a record one) is absurd given how poor we've been. I'm not even sure if it's being poor, or just getting results through any means possible. Can't be bothered with optimism or pessimism anymore. There's fuck all we as fans can do, so it's all a bit pointless really. Just sit it out and watch it unravel. It's why I enjoy watching sports where I don't follow anyone more these days, you can just enjoy it for what it is. A lot easier that way.

Spurs are just pure black comedy now, it's funny but a bit depressing. Eriksen is brilliant though, in all of this he's someone genuinely top class who they can build a team around. So many of their midfield are hit and miss though, it's ridiculous. Vertonghen-Sandro-Eriksen is still a good spine though, just need a bit more consistency around it, Lennon seems to have dropped right off and for all their obvious talent, Dembele and Paulinho (and Sigurdsson I suppose) don't impose themselves on games anywhere near as much as they should, particularly Dembele, he's obviously a class-act but frustrates me so much when watching him. They should definitely be going after Remy in the summer imo, even if he's not their main guy they need a reliable back-up, Harry Kane ffs

In what sense has he fucked Vertonghen up for us? Judging by the beard action Jan had going on today he might slowly be morphing into avb not necessarily performance wise but its affected the perception of him from fans.. talking about him in the papers, it consistently raises the q about how much he wants to be here when he has to play left back etc now however many months on.. fans are so quick to turn on him when he isn't playing at Ledley standards and its irritating because he can't have a bad game without the next 4 days on social media etc being about how he'll be leaving in the summer & I can't help but think if the him preferring to play centre back non story hadn't been dragged out this myth that his head is in a twist now wouldn't exist tl;dr if we all stop talking about him, he might stay in the summer beard is rockin tho

Dembele part especially. There aren't many players in the world who are as built as well as him, whilst possessing an above average level of dribbling skill. Yet he'll use this perfectly and simply stop and make an easy pass out wide or sideways. The atmosphere has been coming accross as horrible for a few seasons now. Ever since we went into the Champions League, and lost a pretty fortress like home record (we only got beat twice at home all season a few years back), it's just gone downhill. I just can't understand the hate towards Sherwood. The amount of people backtracking and now longing for AVB is an embarrassment. Majority of Sherwood's losses have been against good sides. Arsenal, Chelsea, City, Benfica. Others we've lost are West Ham at home (his fault for bringing off Adebayor at 1-0, first game in charge), Norwich away where the team was just poor and Dnipro away where we lost to a penalty and Soldado missed from a yard. Frustrating draws to West Brom at home, and Hull away (although that's not a terrible point, especially 1-0 down). What's he supposed to do? He's played some very good teams whilst in the middle of an injury crisis. As soon as an important player returns, another gets injured. Done as much as he can.

he got the team terribly wrong yesterday imo
if Soldado is fit then there's no reason for Kane to start ahead of him, Kane put in a good shift but he's not good enough for this level yet
Paulinho and Sandro together in the middle offers absolutely nothing
was Rose injured? or just coming back? either way, Naughton is not good enough
Ade was useless as well, should've buried that chance he had, he seems to only score under pressure
