It's on the BBC website.
My team:
GK: Buffon. Outstanding performance in 2006. That save from Zidane in extra-time in the final is one of the great saves in the World Cup. Good showing in 2002.
RB: Djalma Santos. Key defender for a team that won consecutive World Cups. An attacking full-back who could also defend. On team of the century for the 20th Century, mainly for World Cup performances.
SW: Beckenbauer. One of the main threats from midfield in 1966 when West Germany got to the final. Gradually moved to sweeper where he made the position his own, breaking the defensive marking system of the time. In today's football I think we'd see him in defensive midfield but he would excel in any era. Captained the 1974 WC win.
CB: Cannavaro. It's extremely rare that a defender is considered the best player in a tournament. 2006 World Cup was one of the great defensive performances. Made up for Nesta being out in 2002 and 2006. Played decent in 1998 and 2010 aswell.
LB: Roberto Carlos. The go-to left-back from 1998-2002. Made being a full-back cool with his explosive pace, powerful shot and amazing free-kicks (when they connected). Past his best in 2006.
DM: Matthaus. 25 World Cup appearances. Played in 5 World Cups. His best World Cup was 1990 when he was player of the tournament. Excellent man-marking job on Maradona in the 1986 final. Could be a sweeper, defensive midfielder, attacking midfielder, could be stopper, box-to-box midfielder or playmaker.
AM: Charlton. Main creative outlet in England's 1966 win. Won the game against Portugal with a powerful shot. Key player in 1970 when his withdrawal led to England's downfall from 2-0 up to lose the game 3-2.
AM: Zidane. 1998 scored the winning goals in the final to win France the cup on home soil. 2006 breathed life into a dull knock-out stage with some mesmerising displays. Heart and soul of France and almost the perfect no.10.
FW: Pele. Greatest World Cup player of all-time. Second best player in 1958, best player in 1970. Goal and assist before injured in 1962. Hacked out of 1966 World Cup but was still able to drop into midfield and run the game despite hobbling around. When you think World Cup, Pele comes to mind.
FW: Maradona. Best World Cup performance ever in 1986. Was in unstoppable form and only Garrincha has rivalled Maradona for such amazing dribbling. Played well in 1990 also as Argentina got to the final. Drug problems in 1994.
ST: Ronaldo. Fenomeno is the highest scorer in World Cup history. Arguably the best player in the 1998 and 2002 World Cups. An unfortunate seizure took the wind out of his sails in 1998 when he looked like dragging Brazil to victory. He got his revenge in 2002 when he scored 8 goals including 2 in the final with a series of expert finishes. A more potly Ronaldo still scored 3 goals in 2006.
