We may have had a thread but I can't recall and Sky News are advertising the verdict of his trial as if it's the latest installment of a blockbuster movie so I thought fuck it SNC can join in the fun.
I'm thinking guilty of culpable homicide; he's admitted he shot and killed another person, I don't think there's enough evidence (or any at all) to suggest he meant to kill Reeva, and I don't think he's argued his case of self defence and anxiety well enough to get him off.

Yep same as you, its 100% manslaughter cos at the end of the day he killed someone. I don't think he set out to kill Reeva and planned it all though.

I know it's different living in South Africa with there being a lot more crime but I don't get how it isn't just straight up murder. Unless i've missed something why didn't he check whether it was Reeva if he knew she was in the house? Just saying "is that you in there" before firing a fucking gun through the door. Even then he lived on a estate that had never had a break in and has security.
Some of the defence given by his lawyer was lol worthy

He'll be let off and it'll be a complete farce that Sky Sports will treat as something akin to that of a last minute transfer conducted by Harry Redknapp from behind the window of his car

Some of the defence given by his lawyer was lol worthy Because it's not possible to establish his intent to kill that particular person. No mens rea (intent) = no murder. Whether or not they can find him guilty of murder by applying transfer of malice, I don't know - there's not a specified person he meant to kill so I don't know if you can actually use transferred intent in that situation. Also not sure how culpable homicide works in South Africa. I know in English/Welsh (and Scottish I think) law you can get found guilty of murder if you didn't mean to kill them but meant to cause GBH under section 18 only (ie knew your actions would cause serious harm). South African law on this is derived more from Scots law than English so it's possible it's the same but I dunno. Any of the other people who've studied law can feel free to correct anything there, it's been a while lol. Not paid attention to the trial but from what I've heard, he'll get culpable manslaughter with diminished responsibility.

Not guilty of premeditated murder, judge's comments pre-lunch suggest she believes he had reason to believe there was an intruder in the bathroom so likely not a murder charge either. Culpable homicide verdict looking likely.

Journo's tweeting that judge said culpable homicide is "a competent verdict", but the punishment is entirely at her jurisdiction and can range from a large fine to a 15 year stretch in prison. Or house arrest. Or any other thing the judge decides. This'll be where the controversy comes out.

Tbf, she said that in the sense of having eliminated the previous two charges, so it's less of a judgement than it sounds. Based on the last 10 or so minutes prior to lunch though I reckon it'll be the verdict.

So it's not reasonably foreseeable that blindly shooting through a door (four times) could kill a person in there.
Gjiwnejdjnekwbt.
It'll be culpable homicide with diminished responsibility (private defense) seeing as it can't be established he knew it wasn't an intruder in the toilet. I'll be surprised if he is sentenced to more than 5 years in prison.
