I liked how BBC news presented that story with a headline picture of heroin that looked like it came out of Trainspotting. Could have shown a graph of care rate or prison numbers of countries that have done so, but nah gotta scare the middle classes into thinking little Johnny's gonna get hooked on smack.

Yeh some of the reaction has been wild. "They banned us from smacking ours kids now they want to give them drugs" seems to be the common one.
There's proper evidence of this approach being successful in countries such as Portugal so I'm delight Scotland is looking to follow.

Scotland have been brilliant at dealing with knife crime as well. Good to see progressive policies, hopefully we follow suit.

i tell you what, the piece in the guardian about the govts plans to digitise the entire benefits department, not merely the already failing Universal Credit scheme, is terrifying
rejected multiple FoI requests to release any details about how it works as well.

Jacob Rees Mogg proposed (and got passed) a piece of legislation last year that is now coming to fruition. The Taxation (Cross-border Trade) Act 2018 says "It shall be unlawful for Her Majesty’s Government to enter into arrangements under which Northern Ireland forms part of a separate customs territory to Great Britain." Wow, so specific.
Boris knows the deal he is "desperately trying to get" is illegal and his mates set the scene for that a year ago. The BBC is lapping it up though, all day their coverage has been about how Boris is trying so hard to get a deal. It's a dead duck and it's been his plan all along. Even if some idiotic Labour MPs lap it up the deal will be dragged through court and be shown to be illegal - giving Boris his "ah look I tried" moment.

This is incredibly stupid. Targeting public transport was never going to win any favours.

Yeh I don't get it. They tried to block off the station I use to get home from work one evening. I got in a side entrance as they were getting in place. If they stopped me getting on the train I'd have just called an Uber. I wonder how many hundreds of people jumped in Ubers and taxis that night.
The old cunt who tried to stand infront of me and hand me a leaflet would have gone mental if he'd known I was on my way to the airport.
Anyway back to the BBC
How mental is that tweet? Bigging up Boris over a deal that he hasn't got and won't get approved by either side in time. "He's got us a deal everyone told him was impossible". Except that he hasn't got it at all.

Apparently a deal has been agreed. Needs to be ratified by the 27 later today then it goes to Westminster. Seems unlikely it'll pass and looks like labour want to vote for a referendum on the deal (Boris' deal Vs remain). Would lessen the "democratic outrage" argument but not sure it'll get the support in parliament.
DUP are not on board with this deal, so it's a dead duck. Who'd have thunk it. Boris gets to blame everyone else though.
