Shutting down protest/dissent basically.
How dare my constituents be angry at my political decisions and lack of action. No, it can't possibly be that I am out of touch, they must be extremists.

That Labour loss is a massive case of chickens coming home to roost. Never forget that George Galloway is an all time dickhead and grifter, though.

It is but it's also a pretty damning indictment into the electorate imo.
Did you see the two versions of letters he sent out? One aimed at the Muslim population speaking about them being brothers and sisters and how Starmer is enthrall to Israel, and one aimed at everyone else which includes the line "Make Britain Great Again".

Literally came on to post about Galloway two separate letters lol
We taking bets on how long it will take for him to get thrown out of parliament? He feels like someone paid by the right wing to be as ludicrous as possible to act like he’s on the left to justify the “looney left”.

Why are so many female MPs obsessed with gaining membership to the Garrick Club?

Politics is one of the only professions where you can fail upwards, Simon Harris has no business being the next Taoiseach.

I find Owen jones hard to listen to sometimes but think he does a great job against this lad. I think he was so close to being called anti semetic here 😂

What’s wrong with the idea of introducing a premiums based social insurance that has strict eligibility requirements? Or is the assumption that we would have some mid-20th century US medical insurance system whereby if you pay nothing you’re left to die? If you look closer to home at the likes of France, Germany, and Holland, the higher premiums cover those who can’t afford to make more than minimal contributions if any

If you look closer to home at the likes of France, Germany, and Holland, the higher premiums cover those who can’t afford to make more than minimal contributions if any Don't have the graphic to hand but I'm pretty sure all of those countries you mentioned have had significantly more healthcare state-investment per capita over the past decade than the UK (which is at or near the bottom of the table for advanced economies). The fundamental reason the NHS is on its arse is because it is chronically underfunded and anyone claiming it can be fixed on the cheap is being either ignorant or disingenuous. There also isn't some massive reserve army of private doctors and specialists to pick up the slack of NHS waiting lists. Iirc a huge number (if not a majority) of medical professionals carrying out NHS-eligible private procedures already work in the NHS and use the former to supplement their income. You're essentially tapping into the same supply of mostly the same people. I had a minor eye op last month and the guy who performed it was basically doing that. If you let the private sector in they will only cream off the easiest and most profitable cases meaning it will been even harder for the NHS to pay for itself with what is left. The NHS is also the healthcare provider of last resort if private procedures go wrong only adding to the burden. Means-testing creates bureaucracy which has to be paid for (it's someone's job to do the checking that didn't have to be done before). It also inevitably results in people who would have been eligible not accessing the service as they wouldn't or couldn't jump through the necessary hoops for a variety of reasons. Finally, the second you go down the road of healthcare not being a fundamental right for everyone but something that can be haggled over where all that's guaranteed is some bottom of the barrel service if you're poor enough the political culture in this country will lead to it being stripped to the bone before you know it. Look at UK dentistry if you want a glimpse into the future

The other fella is a turnip. He says at one point why would anyone care except for Israelis and Palestinians like. Why would anyone except Jews and Nazis care about the Holocaust if you follow that logic. France talking about sanctions in order to get aid into Gaza. The language is still all so fucking passive about this. This isn't a natural disaster we've no control over like. it was so clear what Netanyahu and his fascist buddies would do in response to the Hamas attacks. But the main western powers are moving so slowly towards even vaguely pressuring Israel it's pathetic - Netanyahu is already ignoring all of them about an attack on Rafah. Do they think Netanyahu and his far right looper buddies will change their minds if they just say pretty please?
