Budapest is great, just getting back from 4 days there now and it’s one of the best cities I’ve been to. Cheap considering it’s a capital city, plenty to do and a great city just to look at. The Buda side of the city is genuinely stunning. I want to go again but with places like that I love the initial discovery and slowly working out where is good to go and that’d be lost, so I’m thinking somewhere maybe in Austria next year.

Bodes well, I'm there this week. Initially wasn't arsed but managed to find enough to have me really keen to go now.

Anyone know a good website for searching for flights when you are flexible with dates? Looking to take advantage of my mid-life-retirement with some more travel. I've always used skyscanner and I've always been limited to a certain date or within a day so that's been fine to just do a few searches but it can't seem to do "cheapest within this time range" type searches. Edit: Just discovered you can do "whole month" instead of specific dates on skyscanner.

I know Ryanair have a fare finder that's awesome if you're not fixed on dates because it'll tell you what the cheapest flights are within a set time frame.
Not sure if EasyJet's is as good but I know it'll give you a rough months view of when the cheapest flights are.
Don't know of any specific comparison site for that though unfortunately.

Got a few good deals from doing that if you're not fussy about where you go.

Budapest was gorgeous. Wasn't that impressed at all at first, mainly because it looked a bit of a dump on the way in and the first park we saw had a guy stood at the entrance having a piss on the gate.
But the city itself is nice, the transport was brilliant and most things were cheap enough. Think three days were just enough to get everything done.
Didn't think I'd enjoy Szimpla as a ruin bar as I thought it'd be a bit of a hipster-hive, but fortunately late afternoon it was quite quiet so we could take our time milling around, actually really enjoyed it.
