England seem poised to lose as soon as they meet a top team at a tournament on penalties after a dull draw as per usual. They're terrible at finding a good team balance, it's bad that Hodgson has played three group games and is none the wiser as to who his first choice team is.
Wales are great though, go Wales. Watched the first half and don't think I've seen Joe Allen play better. Gareth Bale also is a consistent star for Wales, other stars take note. His international showings as he lifts a small nation really show to me that he's world class more than what he does at club level. It takes a really special player to be able to do that.

Every Welsh player was amazing. I was a bit weary that the Russians would finally show up but they were plain awful. When their captain Shirkov was subbed, there was like a full minute of commotion where the Russian players didn't want the armband until Akinfeev came to get it. They seem to have problems internally.
Everytime Bale ran at them it looked like we'd score. We probably should have had 5 or 6 which I'm pinching myself saying. I wish we had a 25 year old Craig Bellamy in our team, as we'd be complete.

Aye, commentators and press praised how well we've played in a 1-1 draw with Russia, scraping a win against Wales at the death and a dour performance against Slovakia where we created at best one goal scoring opportunity. Utterly woeful in truth, that first 20 minutes against Russia is probably the best we've played. Rooney was utterly awful when he came on. Alli anonymous again. Kane looks short on confidence. Vardy is pointless against a deep defence. Lallana continues to be our brightest spark going forward and Dier has become our most important player. Actually more excited for Wales and Northern Ireland than England in this. alli wasnt any worse than wilshere, in fact id say alli did more when he came on i think taking lallana off was the problem, the only one who looked any good in the final third sturridge and vardy were woeful and it pretty much confirms that roy has no clue how to set up the team, i mean sturridge was basically in midfield ffs, only hart had less touches than vardy too, says it all

Sturridge was good with his linkup play but he just wasn't in the box when the ball was coming in. Vardy was useless, pretty much showed why Djed didn't want him at Arsenal, looked at a loss when the other team is defending.
All in all a proper England performance of the last few years. Dominant with the ball but I was just waiting for them to get countered rather than expecting them to score.

Vardy at Arsenal could be a totally different proposition to Vardy at England. Slovakia sat in deep like a lot of sides do against Arsenal, yes. But Arsenal are far, far superior at breaking those sides down than England are. They are better at shifting the ball and the defence, upping the tempo, picking passes and creating chances. Vardy would score goals for Arsenal, his goal against Wales is an example of him being able to do more than run channels and play on the counter. (It may have been a fortuitous bounce, but he was there) I think he'd be good in the box for an Arsenal type side when they've got the opposition penned in.
England were good for 45 minutes (again) but when the goal didn't come their play slowed, they lacked patience, ideas and creativity. I said yesterday, 70% possession against three teams who didn't want to attack, yet the best footballing centre half was sat on the bench. Aside from that, at 70 mins when you're bringing Kane on, there's an interesting option to move Dier back to centre half and get another attacker on. Needless to say our manager lacks the balls/insight to make interesting decisions, so instead we got more of the same.
